Pete Burns was a revolting bully. BB has always been a hotbed of bullying, but it was his level of mysogynist bullying that brought the issue to the fore and made BB aware of the fact that it had to be controlled. I found it quite interesting that quite early on in this series, Coolio was hauled into the diary room to warn him that his behaviour could be construed as bullying if it continued, and to tone it down a bit. That didn't happen with Pete Burns because it was the first time it had been quite so aggressive, to the extent that there was a public debate about it, which made BB properly aware that that kind of behaviour in the BB house shouldn't be tolerated.

I just LOVE the fact that a "grumpy old woman" has won BB.

I hoestly don't think he was. And I think Jodie Marsh milked it.

Well obviously it's your right to think that, but I would characterise such a view as being informed by a pervasive mysogyny, tbh. I don't see how you could avoid noticing just how nasty he was and to say that she milked it, is focusing on the victim's behaviour rather than that of the perpetrator. However, I'm sure we probably had this discussion three years ago (or was it 4?)

Probably! Didn't have much sympathy with Michelle this year either, I'm afraid - these celebs need tougher skins!
I had enormous sympathy for Shilpa Shetty - those three were definitely bullies, and racist to boot.

Oh Pete Burns was vile! Not just to Jodie Marsh. Do you remember when he turned on that woman from Baywatch and just started ripping her to shreds. His voice and expressions were utterly hate-filled. It was really uncomfortable viewing.

Interestingly he didn't once target Dennis Rodman Now that's true bullying and cowardly behaviour.

Yep, he was vicious on that occasion, I will grant you.

Totally agree about Pete Burns - what a hate riddled, unpleasant and clearly very unhappy person. It was very uncomfortable viewing. He needed therapy not BB. He took out all his own insecurities and negativity and used it as a driving force to bully, criticise ridicule whoever was in his way. Horrible.

Love the fact that Ulrika won. Yay for middle aged married women with kids My Dh was disgusted she won over Terry.I am delighted. Terry was the obvious choice out of the two so it was a nice suprise. I thought she came across as a lot more genuine and "nice" as a person than I previously imagined she would.

She handled it really well though didn't she? He was telling her he found her whole way of life "totally repugnant" and she just chirruped, "Oh - okay!" She should have laughed in his face too

Totally agree with LB about Pete Burns. It was quite revolting how he turned on those women. I did enjoy Tommy's undercutting of all Coolio's bullshit this year [though I think Coolio's was more bravado than real misogyny]

Shocked at Ulrika winning, as thought demographic of BB voter wouldn't allow it. Good for her though.

I have only watched snipets this series. So, I haven't really 'cared' who won.
But I did hear that Vern was favourite.
I am TRUELY TRUELY astonished that Ulrike won. Really, I wonder why the public voted for her. I must be missing something here.
Don't get me wrong. I don't even dislike the woman. Just shocked that the public voted for HER.

I was surprised too. I thought that for once in Celeb BB, there was no obvious winner. Any of those finalists could have won IMO.

For the first time also, I didn't really mind who of the finalists won. However, I was really really pleased when Ulrika won. DH was . He said he didn't mind who won as long as it wasn't Ulrika. He didn't like her from the very beginning though.

I, however, found that she grew on me. At first I could 'take her or leave her', but by the end I was rooting for her (I surprised myself if I'm honest!).
