jodee - me too! One year I was peering past the pillar to get a glimpse of John Taylor, the next...thrilling to Jesus and Mary Chain, and the next big thing thanks to John Peel. Long live eclectic record collections (had to explain to DD what a record was, the other day!!!)

I know...I was watching Lost in Translation for the first time a few years ago, and it sent shivers up my spine - hadn't heard it for ages. Until I switched into 'jealousy mode' and thought, hang on, they've stolen my song for a film!! Argh!

I also recall going for a pizza (pepperoni feast, since you ask) in Bath with my 6th form chums in 83 (maybe 84). One table in the restaurant was obscured for the duration by a gaggle of giggling girls (some of my companions amongst them). I was assured that the behind this throng lurked Tears for Fears....

Sigh.

....for a while I bought everything on cassette, as my lovely generous elder sister had bought me a Walkman...

Can you still buy cassettes? Probably not. Though they are still available in my local library..

Mind you, my local library still has 8track cartridges....

Just watching this now. Sky +ed it last week as I knew I was going to fall asleep.
I was 10 in 1983 but I'm loving this!!!

I don't think you can buy new cassettes, apart from perhaps blank ones. I still have 2 tape players, 1 on my hifi and 1 in the car - usually use my car one with the ipod shuffle, but it's useful when that runs out of charge (CD player broke ages ago)!

...it's a shame about the demise of cassettes, really.

Until quite recently I used my old cassette walkman in the gym - just used to make tapes of my fave CDs. A bit old hat now eh?!
Must confess though, the little ipod is a bit easier to use while on the treadmill...
