I'm off to dig up my Smash Hits annual from 1983...it's great...all stripy and full of little anecdotes from HJ, NK and PY. Can't stand red red wine, so glad of the diversion! Enjoy!

Posey · 21/11/2008 22:51

I love Sade too.

Red red wine however I did not and this song takes me straight back to the New Forest family camping holiday and I wanted to be anywhere but!

jodee · 21/11/2008 22:51

am gearing myself up for Tone ..

I don't consider fecking UB40 as proper '80s music

my mum was into it!

NoBiggy · 21/11/2008 22:52

Nick Beggs has played with HJ a couple of times when I've seen him, also with ABC.

In fact, at Howard's 25th anniversary gig back last Sept, he had Nicks Beggs, Heyward, and Kershaw as guests, and Paul Young and Limahl at the party.

Posey · 21/11/2008 22:52

Funny that, no-one liked that song...

dinny · 21/11/2008 22:52

yeah, I love Sade too

Tidgypuds · 21/11/2008 22:52

OOOh I was 7 and remember everyone of these especially Red Red Wine, my mum used to play it on her tape player in the kitchen whilst cooking/cleaning and swaying her hips. I thought she was ace.

NoBiggy · 21/11/2008 22:53

Red red wine is a good song, which UB40 made very popular despite utterly ruining it!

dinny · 21/11/2008 22:53

we should organise a Mumsnet outing to '80s gig (pref one with Howard in it)

dinny · 21/11/2008 22:53

would LOVE to see Duran Duran

pombear · 21/11/2008 22:54

Dinny...oh no, does that mean my dc won't be able to acknoweldge most of the music from this decade 'cos I like it? Ah well, happy to ruin her childhood for the sake of some good 'toons'!!!

BoysAreLikeDogs · 21/11/2008 22:54

Bonnie Tyler stop shouting woman

NoBiggy · 21/11/2008 22:54

Keep it under your hat, but I bought 2 tickets for next year's Here And Now tour for dp for Christmas.

tiredsville · 21/11/2008 22:54

Remember my mum dancing to red, red wine. I think I told her she was disgusting. I was a real prude as a kid
