Hi, anyone seen the first 2 episodes of Apparitions? What did you think? Anyone else thinks it is too gory and a little bit silly?

Ok - but clear this up for me please...

Father Vincenzo regains his faith when he hears his dad talking through Jacob; then performs effective exorcism on Jacob; then is struck by lightening, and dies cursing all gods.

So, what I want to know is: did Satan actually trick him into believing that it was his dad in order to make him believe in God again, in order to truly f**k with his head before he died? If so, why? since it meant that Jacob was exorcised and able to stop the assassination...

That's why they have MS - to distract us from the plot.

no no no - do not fob me off - I must know!

Still can't believe they got Cherie Lunghi for, like, 5 mins - only to SEND HER UP IN FLAMES!

No, I think it was really his dad - like the murder victim in the rape episode speaking through the rapist. I kind of think the point of the rapist episode was to fully set up this idea that the saints can 'possess' people the same way that demons can, only with good, rather than evil intent.

My take was that Satan had tricked Vincenzo all that time into believing that his family were in hell, and so he made his decision to exorcise Jacob, but couldn't bring himself to reconcile with God for allowing it all to happen in the first place, which I thought was a good, unpatronizing ending for him.

That's kind of how I saw it kay, I thought in the end he rejected all gods because Satan lied to him about his family, and he rejected God because He'd let his family die, so in his eyes all gods had failed him.

I think it was meant to be a reverse exorcism, as the only way of negating F Jacob?s anti-mass type thing in the last episode ? hence the satanist exorcises the good guy, and hears voices, only they are from saints not sinners (as Kay says), and (presumably) telling the truth, not lying. And curses instead of being blessed at the end.

My favourite scene was the bit with the therapist and Michael both ranting at Jacob and him getting his arm sliced open, twas thrilling.

I suppose as an explanation for the therapist bit at the end - turning from a demon back into an athiest seemingly - maybe it suggests that since Michael didn?t succeed this time all the demon-possessed people have gone back to being athiests ( !) and will lie low for a while (until the second series ).
