Here we go...

OP posts:
Boyswillbeboys · 26/10/2008 08:12

It was definitely a bit dull tonight, thank god for John, he may be rubbish but it cheered me right up! Kristina is extremely brave letting him do the dragging and flinging stuff (sorry, not the right dance terms but that's what it looked like!). Poor Mark, he really is a fish out of water - I was cringing behind a cushion. Thought Jodie looked lovely and felt she deserved more. Tom is way too smug and the brillcream was hideous.

MorticiaAnnSpookington · 26/10/2008 08:29

Bomper - I see you aren't won over by John's charm - he is just so nice - he may not be the best dancer but he does the job and is lovely...usually useless old geeks on Strictly make me cringe but John is part of the pleasure of watching - and Kristina is fantastic.

Tigerschick · 26/10/2008 08:31

Right, here's my take on last night's show ...

Lisa + Brendan - Loved the dress, good musicality ... something missing tho. Oh, and I roffled when they showed the bit in training when they went for a 'high five' and totally missed

Andrew + Ola - huge improvement in his posture; still deserves to be in the bottom 2. Annie's Song is in my top 10 - I absolutely love it.

Christine + Matthew - Christine didn't seem to 'connect' with the dance somehow - agree with Len, what she did, she did well but it wasn't really a paso.

Austin + Erin - Loved it

Cherie + James - didn't think it was as good as previous weeks. Normally I like it when they use traditional music but that seemed to detract from the dancing somehow ...

Heather + Brian - Huge improvement.

Mark + Hayley - Erm ... well, it didn't bode well when she had to stand him in position right in front of the judges. I think he was doing his best but I think it's time for him to go.

Tom + Camilla - It was as tho the music was at the wrong speed. But thought it was good.

John + Kristina - Very clever choreography - he never forgets a step!

Rachel + Vincent - beautiful, especially the beginning.

Jodie + Ian - Loved it ... tho I don't know how good it was ... just loved it.

Mark to go.

Showmeheaven · 26/10/2008 10:11

unknownrebelbang, I feel the same about the show this year. The celebs are all a bit boring tbh, all a bit too safe. No-one is prepared to stick their neck out and give a really exciting performance. There isn't much chemistry going on with the partnerships either (I was hooked on Flavia & Matt last year and Karen & Mark the year before).

Freckle · 26/10/2008 10:24

Oh I don't know. I think the relationship between Jodie and Ian is just fantastic. You can tell that they really adore each other.

Rose100 · 26/10/2008 10:29

And the chemistry between Tom and Tom is pretty strong.

Tigerschick · 26/10/2008 10:35

Do you think that the judges really mark the dance-off purely on the performance of that one dance?? That's the line they spin but I'm not so sure ... what if, by some strange twist of voting figures, the dance-off tonight was between Andrew and Austin; and Austin tripped, or froze, while Andrew performed as well as he did in the main show ... Would the judges keep Andrew because he put in the better performance in the d/o or would they keep Austin because he's the better dancer overall?? Just a thought

Tigerschick · 26/10/2008 10:35

ROFL Rose

ZebsRoomofHerOwn · 26/10/2008 13:25

Ditto Tiger, Tom does appear to have a huge capacity for love.

I thought it was just because I was tired that I didn't find last night at all exciting.I don't recall last week's professional paso being even reomotely dull. This week's most definitely were. And it's difficult to get worked up about the viennese waltz.

Tigerschick · 26/10/2008 17:45

Any bets on who is going home this week???

I hope it is Mark ... I think it will be, erm, Heather, sadly.

Don't forget, results show is early this week - starts at 7.10

ranting · 26/10/2008 18:01

Mark has to go surely, he was absolutely dire and I think I am the only female in Britain who doesn't find him attractive but he does zilch for me.

And what was with Len? Did they forget to slip him his Viagra last night, he was a bit like a bulldog with PMT, at one point I thought he was going to tear CRH apart limb by limb.

cocoleBOO · 26/10/2008 18:05

I know who's gone...............

ranting · 26/10/2008 18:09

Viagra!! I meant Valium

MrsTittleMouse · 26/10/2008 18:13

I quite liked the new Len.

All the dances were very boring though. I hope Mark goes, he just can't dance, bless him. John Sargent needs to go soon too - he's starting to get a bit arrogant with the "the British public will get us through" stuff. Kristina's choreography is fantastic though - so impressive how she manages to adapt everything.

SmileandWave · 26/10/2008 18:16

7.10 tonight?. Great thanks wanted to know as DH is watching DVD with kids and I can't find out.

Mark has to go. Those fishnet tops make me cringe, he doesn't even look like he's enjoying it poor lad.

ranting · 26/10/2008 18:18

Oh don't get me started on the see through tops and if Tess bangs on about him dancing in swimming shorts one more time, I'll happily gnaw my own arm off.

SmileandWave · 26/10/2008 18:20

Oh god yes. Who are these swarms of women who fancy him? The thought of seeing him in those hideous sparkly trunks she put up last night is putting me off my tea.

ranting · 26/10/2008 18:24

Can you imagine him trying to contort his naked body into some semblance of shape whilst wearing hideous pink speedos? Yuk!!

SmileandWave · 26/10/2008 18:26

RANTING THATS ENOUGH!! I am just about to eat Shepherd Pie FGS

ranting · 26/10/2008 18:29

LOL!!

Spangly pink speedos at that

Tigerschick · 26/10/2008 18:42

I totally agree about Mark being 100% unfanciable! When he was standing waiting for his music to start last night he looked gaunt and emaciated. Just don't get it.

fionaann · 26/10/2008 19:12

Have been bereft for a few days as haven?t been able to find the new thread ? didn?t realise how dependent I had become. I was watching ITT and searching for the site for comments but couldn?t find anything. Loved your comment Rose100 ?And the chemistry between Tom and Tom is pretty strong. ? Here?s my take on yesterday?s show:
Austin and Erin ? great performance. Viennese waltz can be a bit dull imo but couldn?t take my eyes of f them.
Cherie and James ? I thought her timing was really off all the way through the dance ? she was always a beat behind James. Strange that Craig ? with whom I usually agree ? said their timing was good.
Tom and Camilla ? can?t stand his smugness. Great to see him have negative comments and to be taken to account by the grumpy Len when he looked in astonishment at Camilla. He obviously dances well ? but he?s not perfect ? and he?s not good looking ? crooked smile and that slicked down hair really doesn?t suit him.
Lisa and Brendan ? totally overrated .Don?t see what the judges see in them. Lisa?s height doesn?t work for her.
John and Kristina ? LOVED them ? and thought the training where he fell at the same time and way as Kristina was hilarious ? wish they had included that in the real dance. He?s obviously not the best dancer but his timing is good and he?s funny ? in a group of people with not much personality.
Jodie and Ian ? really liked this and thought they were undermarked. What was going on with Ian?s comments ? were his nipples prominent or something ? I didn?t notice anything.
Christina and Matthew ? she seems sweet but was like a rag doll in this dance. (Is there something going on with her and Adrian Chiles? I know there was all that stuff in the papers a couple of months ago but if it was true then surely he wouldn?t be so obvious about it as to be at every show or am I being naive???)
Heather and Brian ? glad that she danced better. I do like her and I think Brian is fab. Did anyone else notice how close Brian was sitting to Heather on ITT? Maybe he was reading comments on this forum.
I agree that ? apart from Austin - there isn?t anyone like Aleisha in this series to get really excited by.

cyteen · 26/10/2008 19:35

Just doing an iPlayer catch-up and will then go back and catch up with thread

Lisa's make up is ghastly! As is her outfit. Thought she did a good job though, you could see she was well into the dance, although she lacked a bit of 'snap'. Am lol'ing at the music choice though - Brendan is soooooo 80s.

Andrew - meh, which I suppose is a step up from bleurgh.

Ooh, love Christine's outfit. And I thought she did a good job, very sharp in the body, but the rendition of 'Fighter' was a bit lumpen and maybe that didn't help them. Surprised at the very negative comments though, it wasn't that bad!

Erin - lovely dress but she looks a bit haggard. Thought the dance was a bit boring, but maybe that's just my indifference to the Viennese waltz rather than them in particular.

What is Cherie wearing? Rancid outfit. Thought their paso was a bit raffia donkey - too jolly, not enough aggro.

Heather looks beautiful Enjoyed their waltz very much!

Mark, ah Mark. What a sweet guy, but he's never going to rid himself of that look of fierce concentration or those spidery long limbs

Tom and Camilla v good, I was charmed. And Camilla's outfit is marginally less pukesome this week. He really suits that slicked-back-hair matinee idol look...not fanciable though.

Loving John's stern face Kristina looks gorgeous as always, in fact I find it hard to see what John's doing as I can't take my eyes off her Full of fire! Loved the dance, whatever its faults - I did actually lol.

Rachel wins the hair and gown prize for this evening. Was thoroughly charmed by their waltz. What's got into Len tonight, I've never seen him so mardy!

Love Jodie, she's so sweet. Not her best performance, another patchy one, but definite moments of greatness.

jenk1 · 26/10/2008 19:46

mark HAS to go surely

Crocodilius · 26/10/2008 19:48

Yay! John is still in.
