Here we go...

OP posts:

Ooooo well done you Obama! I got really narked looking for it as missed end of ITT! Now can you find Claudia's dress???????

OllieWollieWoo · 19/11/2008 22:47

at Johns refusal to give Christina a hug and make her feel better! Claudia is soooo nice - she really would be a lovely friend wouldn't she?????

MARGOsBeenPlayingWithMyNooNoo · 19/11/2008 23:05

If I'd have been Claudia , I'd have stuffed the rules and sat right next to Kristina and held her hand. Then I'd have bawled my eyes out.

OMG JS seemed so awkward at the thought of comforting Kristina.

Anyway sweeping the Sargent under the carpet and moving on to the other dancers.....

I feel a little awkward about the dicussions about Rachels fiance. Vincent seems able to turn the passion and tenderness on and off like a tap. Just look at the Vincent and Flavia dance last year (when they were dressed in white IIRC)

I think Tom should look like this for his tango.

Heated · 19/11/2008 23:06

Ok, personally I didn't think JS would make it through to the final, I assumed the gbp would start to vote en-masse for the accomplished dancers pretty soon but I think I did read he got 50+% of the vote one week and the gbp were taking a perverse delight in keeping him in (maybe in the wake of the Brand/Ross debacle deciding to give the BBC a bit of a slap & perhaps tired too of the predicable young glamorous winner). So I do think his motives are honorable but mixed with self-aggrandisement too - none of them are slebs because they're shrinking violets (faux Rachel take note)

The sad aspect is that this has stirred up more vitriol from the judges and the ilk of James Jordan than if he remained, so I can't see a warm bowing out on Saturday as I think he fondly envisaged, but instead a hasty "get 'im orf"

pinkteddy · 19/11/2008 23:30

Just confirmed on newsnight tonight that JS has got a holiday booked in two weeks time!
Read into that what you will.

PurlyQueen · 19/11/2008 23:32

Tom's problem is that he has zero sex appeal. Yes, he can dance like a dream but his smug grin leaves me cold.

I think JS jumped because he would have looked like even more of a fool during the jive. As a voting expert he knows there was no way he would ever have won the series. The judges would make sure of that as soon as he was in a dance-off.

carrotsandpeasifyouplease · 20/11/2008 08:06

well i agree in that i think Claudia should have hugged her instead and JS did come across as a bit pompous but i don't think the whole circus was his doing i can't see if someone set out to do that that they could iyswim.

belgo · 20/11/2008 08:18

John is just a typical englishman of that age - stiff upper lip - he can't show emotion in public, and that's why he appeared so awkward at the suggestion that he give Kristina a hug. I wonder if he gave her a hug when the camaras were off.

thenewme · 20/11/2008 08:21

I don't think he didn't comfotrt her because he was pompous. I am sure it is more to do with people see things that aren't there and if he had starting putting his arm around her or holding her hand that would have happened. Kristina has said herself how lovely his wofe is and how much in love they are and maybe JS is just of the generation that things like that are kept for your wife.

Why can't some of you just accept what he has said for his reason for leaving and stop insinuating there is more to it.

carrotsandpeasifyouplease · 20/11/2008 08:56

should have put a full stop in my sentence. i didnt mean the reason he didnt hug her was because he was pompous. just that i thought he was as an aside.

fionaann · 20/11/2008 09:17

Phone-in on the JS affair on R5 now until 10am.

squeaver · 20/11/2008 09:37

I thought the Newsnight report was hilarious. Paxman: "Well the dream died today..".

John explained his reasons quite well but I thought Kate Garraway and Anton said it best. He wouldn't have won and you don't just walk away.

James Jordan is a moron who is so stupid he doesn't even realise when he's contradicting himself. And what's he going to do next year when (not if I'm sure) they saddle him with a carthorse? Will it be "all about the dancin'" then, James?

And this "bullying" nonsense is absurd. JS is about as far away from victim status as it's possible to be.

ruty · 20/11/2008 09:52

agree with squeaver.

MrsTweedy · 20/11/2008 10:01

I bet it was getting a bit nasty backstage. Didn't John say he really liked Heather, but then he didn't say the same for Cherie (was cooking so may have missed a bit)

Also I think he didn't get tactile with Kristina because he knows it would be misconstrued and some people especially that generation just aren't.

There is a certain amount of retconning ie story changing from some of his fiercest critics. James is such an arse, really quite nasty. Kate is just peeved that she didn't get so far and wasn't as well liked as John

Thought Claudia dealt with it all very well. Brian looks like he's pulling out all the stops to be asked back!

Turniphead1 · 20/11/2008 10:07

I do think there was maybe an element that JS knew he was going to look pretty stoopid doing a jive or whatever. He was defo due some fast dances. He may also not have ever factored being in this long himself and had other things on (someone suggested a holiday).

I am a bit cross that some people were voting for him without even watching the show. I must say I am a Strictly purist that thinks you should vote on the dancing (but still accept that people can vote how they want - that's the way the show is structured).

Listening to Jezza Vine yesterday most people were pro-Sargeant and kept saying - we know the producers etc want rid of him, don't like this situation, but they shouldn't have put him in to start with then. Durrr - in what universe could the Beeb and the individual producers not be totally delighted with the whole Sargeant affair. The coverage has been immense (and without any of the negative issues of the Shilpa Shetty/Goody Celeb BB thing). Don't know what the figures are, but they must be off the scale.

James J was hilarious. Bless him he ain't too bright. Great dancer though .

Turniphead1 · 20/11/2008 10:11

mrsTweedy - agreed re Brian "oh Claudia I love you pants " ; "doesn't Lilia look well " - hmmm no not really I think Lilia and Darren are looking slightly puffy really at the moment ....

I am torn between really liking Brian and suspecting that he may have a dungeon beneath his flat with loads of photos of someone up in a stalker montage and a torture chamber....

squeaver · 20/11/2008 10:29

Yes of course the producers wanted him to stay. Look how many Monday morning front pages they've had in the past few weeks.

Actually the best bit about ITT was Anton's face when James was digging himself deeper and deeper into a shit-hole.

I have a very funny feeling that the back-stage "truth" will be revealed By John in - oh I don't know - the Sunday Times this weekend...

MrsTweedy · 20/11/2008 10:42

Apparantly voters are demanding their money back and the BBC face a bill for thousands...

After all you can't tell the Great British Public how to vote, they really resent that, but that is what the judges and James have been trying to do.

Re Brian, I read on the link about him & Lisa kissing posted earlier that he'd like to stay here.

squeaver · 20/11/2008 11:07

Well the BBC should send the invoice to John Sergeant.

pleasechange · 20/11/2008 11:07

I missed that - what was that about Brian & Lisa kissing?!

billysitch · 20/11/2008 11:09

Well said sqeaver! I agree.

By the way how lovely is BRIAN! ! ! Did you hear what he said about Lilia, he is sooo lovely and gentlemanly, I just hope he was blind drunk to snog snowdon! Look out breakfast on its way up.

billysitch · 20/11/2008 11:14

Sorry been trying to catch up, got the blue screen of doom last week just after I posted! DH only just fixed it, thank god, was feeling abandoned! How sad am I.

Mrs Tweedy, I agree about the cherie thing, i guess she made a bit of a hoo har about it, but to be honest i doubt either her or heather could have won so probably went on 'their time'.

As for James Jordon, shame on you and for gods sake someone tell him it isnt 'done good' it is 'well done'! Arrg! How on earth does Ola put up with him.

I too think the bennetts are looking a little puffy at the moment! Whats that all about then, not enough training? Says she sitting wishing she had cream cakes.

LurkerOfTheUniverse · 20/11/2008 12:08

Just watched ITT

my god, John can TALK

MaryAnnSingleton · 20/11/2008 15:44

Ola isn't English,so she probably thinks James' speech is charmingly English...

ruty · 20/11/2008 16:23

James is a prize tw*nt.
