I would if the baby was dying. I wouldn't chose to. So I'm conditioned by my environment, but I'm ok with that. i don't think negatively about those who do cross feed.

in an emergency...I guess so...still would upset me thogh as I do think it's a mother-baby bond thing....

The only part of this idea I agree with is for preemie babies and milk banks

but as for friends/family members/strangers breastfeeding my baby or child

but i really dont see a problem with feeding others' babies and others feeding mine.
not that anyone did, nor i anyone elses...
but i honestly dont get why its a big deal

I would bf other babies and be happy for friends to feed my ds. Maybe not strangers but can't see why its a problem.

BUT is there a potential problem with allergies {later in childhood} like nuts etc if you eat peanuts while breast feeding?

If so how would you know what other people had eaten or drunk?

Espicailly if they were strangers to you or your family?

I have eat peanuts while pregnant and bf with no allergy being created. I think a recent study said that we should all eat peanuts as normal but its so hard to know really. My friend avoids nuts due to allergies in her family. Thats probably all you can go off, just you individual family.

if it was a matter of life and death then maybe. But in the normal scheme of things (eg, "I'm just nipping down to the pub, can you feed him if he cries") then no.

Agree with ghosty, in the normal scheme of things, I wouldn't. Although just two generations ago, my grandmother apparently fed other babies in hospital.

But in certain emergency situations when formula milk and clean water were not available, then I would, I would have no problems feeding other babies (I tend to make tons of milk), but I would feel more strange about someone else feeding my own baby.

i think its a personal choice, i am a bit wierd about feeding anyway so prob not but if someone else wants to then its all good

I would happily bf another child, and I would be happy for someone else to bf my child.
I demonstrate bf and jelp women to bf if they are having problems. I often think how bloody useful it would be if I could latch the baby on and show the women technique.
also, when a woman is very tired and her baby is hungry, I have felt my milk come down and thought it would be nice to be able to offer to feed the baby.
I think a few thousand years ago (maybe less) we would have done all this without even thinking tbh.

harpsi - I'm sure there are many countries in the world where wet nursing is still done without thinking about it.
