Nooooo - couldn't bf others and DEF would not allow another to bf my DS.

Harpsi I would be mortified if someone helping me bf took DS off me to show how he should latch onto them - GROSS!!

In an emergency, I would happily express to help feed starving newborns but no way, could I actually bf.

I would bf other babies if they needed it. If UNICEF were asking for lactating mothers to go to Africa and feed starving newborns, I'd do it. Not sure I'd want someone else to feed my baby though. Maybe a close friend or relative would be ok if they were babysitting.

I thought the same about that woman, couldnt believe she said that, neither could Kate. I certainly wouldntlet her babysit my children !

The milk bank lady is doing a great job and I could kind of understand the 2 sisters feeding each others babies but not the rest of them.

I cannot believe that woman who said she gets a sexual connection when letting the children that she babysits suck her breasts!!! This woman has never had children and so has never breastfed a child and yet can get away with making such comments on TV. surely this is within the realms of child abuse?? if that had been a man saying he got an erection while letting a child suck his breast there would have been an outrage. the difference is what??

Oh feeding the orphan twins bit just made me want to feed the world. It was such a lovely selfless thing to do.

I am going to watch the programme because this has really got me interested! My initial reaction was definitely no to physically feeding another child, or anyone feeding my DD but i'm not sure why i'm so against it.

In the hospital i had a ton of milk and ended up offering to bank some but unfortunately it didn't work out so i'm not averse to the idea of giving her someone elses milk either. I'm just not sure how i feel about someone else actually having her on their breast - i had a hard enough time watching DH do it after i had expressed!

Is it just a taboo idea because we don't talk about it anymore or is it just icky!?

If i adopted a baby yes. And if i was really ill or died then yes. Human milk is better than cows milk for a small baby. I will watch this tonight i hope it doen't put an even bigger stigma on breast feeding and extended b/fers.

I think I needed another baby to feed from me, I had way too much milk with dd1. Could easily have fed triplets!

yes, for sure belgo. think how much easier those first few weeks would have been with a spare pair of nipples around

harpsi - I'm sure there are many countries in the world where wet nursing is still done without thinking about it.

I would happily bf another child, and I would be happy for someone else to bf my child.
I demonstrate bf and jelp women to bf if they are having problems. I often think how bloody useful it would be if I could latch the baby on and show the women technique.
also, when a woman is very tired and her baby is hungry, I have felt my milk come down and thought it would be nice to be able to offer to feed the baby.
I think a few thousand years ago (maybe less) we would have done all this without even thinking tbh.

i think its a personal choice, i am a bit wierd about feeding anyway so prob not but if someone else wants to then its all good

Agree with ghosty, in the normal scheme of things, I wouldn't. Although just two generations ago, my grandmother apparently fed other babies in hospital.

But in certain emergency situations when formula milk and clean water were not available, then I would, I would have no problems feeding other babies (I tend to make tons of milk), but I would feel more strange about someone else feeding my own baby.

Ooops - I meant to write 'shop' not 'pub' ... don't know where that came from
