i found it a bit ironic the whole "women should love themselves as they are and not feel pressured to look a certain way" thing, then just showing bare fanny after bare fanny... i just thought "god! am i the only one with any pubic hair? should i have a brazilian too??!"

CatIsSleepy · 18/08/2008 20:06

i know what you mean asicsgirl-are pubes becoming a rarity? I shall treasure mine even more...

asicsgirl · 18/08/2008 20:16

indeed cat. pubes add an air of mystery to the whole business

Moomin · 18/08/2008 20:49

that's one of the biggest ironies - the more women wax and shave their fanjos the more they're going to notice so-called 'irregularities'. When everyone had a bushy fanjo I bet no-one knew what theirs looked like

candyfluff · 19/08/2008 17:46

ok two words GRAVEL&RASH

TheCrackFox · 19/08/2008 17:52

Bring back the '70s I say. The bushier the better. Now we are expected to look like little girls and have no body hair. Do we not have enough to do?

zippitippitoes · 19/08/2008 17:58

my boyfriend watched this apparently he sent this to me in an email

I saw the program on vaginoplasties the other day. Quite strange! Have you ever thought of getting one? That's not meant to be a hint by the way, if you say yes I'll think you are rather strange too. Looks painful and takes a long time to heal up too. The group therapy 'love your vagina' stuff was most strange as well.

sugarpear · 19/08/2008 18:05

only just noticed this thread!

Omg i saw that program and i had tears just watching that poor child have the local in her fanjo and then he simply sliced it off like a butcher! I was literally crawling up the sofa.

Dh was fast asleep with our youngest dd and it made me cry. None of my girls will have that done. The pain it must have caused that girl { shudder} does not bare thinking about.

As for the work shop where everyone gets it out so they can tell you have beautiful it is? WTF!! I have had a number of kids and my fanjo has been looked at by half the medical profession. I never once thought to ask " yo does my fanny look good? How's my flaps too big too much beef? Do i need a nip and tuck?"

The simple fact that if any guy gets close enough to your fanjo to see it in all its glory means his one seriously lucky sod to start with and should be enjoying the gift presented to him not getting a bloody tape measure out to say ' oh dear me love your flaps is a little big'

I think the presenter of the show was bloody fantastic. She presented it brilliantly and im sure she has saved many a poor girl from the agony of that butchery surgery.

TheCrackFox · 19/08/2008 21:40

Yes - I think the presenter was really good too.

I had episiotomy with DS2 and I have never felt pain like it. Cannot imagine having surgery on Fanjo just to pretty it up. Beyond belief.

TwoIfBySea · 19/08/2008 22:45

sugarpear, the thing is that you could show this programme to your dd if she ever felt that it was an option.

There is no amount of low self-esteem that would make anyone go through that. I've seen butchers slice meat better than that guy slashing away at that poor girl.

And no, pubes are not a rarity, I can't understand why anyone wants to have the little girl look. And I would definitely not appreciate any man who liked that look, wtf?

asicsgirl · 20/08/2008 10:37

anyone else wondering why plastic surgeons always seem to be men?

luckymummy74 · 20/08/2008 16:42

twoifbysea - I couldn't agree with you more re: the shaven haven and wanting to look like a little girl ??

I must admit, I do like a trimmed bush, more for hygiene and ease of washing...I know that sounds funny but we have a water softener so if I use too much shower gel on a hairy muff....it takes forever to de-sud myself . But I still definitely have hair present!!

NotAnOtter · 21/08/2008 17:41

agree twoifbythesea how unsexy

juneybean · 24/08/2008 16:08

I feel uneducated, I thought my labia minora was just the inner lining of the labia, not the flappy bit that hands off the clit :/

Showmeheaven · 24/08/2008 20:01

I didn't get to see the programme I think the problem for us ladies is that we never get to see each others, so we have nothing to compare our own to! Still, I'd never go to a group therapy thing to get a look at other womens tho!!! We get to see much more of the penis and the only real difference with them is the size, otherwise they pretty much look the same imo.

I recently saw a pic of a certain female celebrity on the net (she had no knickers on!!!), but what stood out for me was the length of her outer lips (sorry if thats TMI). Maybe its because she was completely bald, but I don't think mine looks like that (pass the hand-held mirror).

solo · 24/08/2008 20:09

I haven't read the whole thread here, but I did see part of the program. The one that got me was the picture of the 16 year old that felt she couldn't show her boyfriend. I understood why when the picture was shown. It must've been very uncomfortable too. I'd like something done to mine, but only because it's so uncomfortable at times. Too much there. But nowhere near as much as the poor young girl in the picture.
