marthamoo · 13/02/2005 22:23

That was a good section:

Breakfast at Tiffany's (note to self: try and look like Audrey Hepburn)

Gallipoli (how gorgeous was Mel in those days?)

Dr. Zhivago (note to self: try and look like Julie Christie)

Another note to self:

Have never seen, and never wish to see, Breaking the Waves.

marthamoo · 13/02/2005 22:25

Just me still watching?

LapsedGymJunkie · 13/02/2005 22:26

No Dh came down from long bath felt obliged to talk to him.

Hulababy · 13/02/2005 22:27

wAS BREAKING THE WAVES THE CLIP i SAW OF A WOMAN, GOING ONTO A SHIP, BEING VIOLENTLY RAPED...AND THEN DYING AT END? iF SO - i WON'T BE WATCHING IT EITHER!

marthamoo · 13/02/2005 22:27

That's the one, HB - can't say it appealed greatly.

marthamoo · 13/02/2005 22:28

You've got your caps lock on btw

Hulababy · 13/02/2005 22:28

Ooops - I realised after posted! Sorry all

Hulababy · 13/02/2005 22:30

Just read the next lot to come up and I have just seen a film I remember watching when a teen - it is so sad Not sure I could watch it as a parent now though. Number 38.

marthamoo · 13/02/2005 22:43

Kramer vs Kramer - that's another sad pre-kids, unbearable post-kids film.

Casablanca - embarrassing admission here - I have never seen it. Must do. Note to self: try to look like Ingrid Bergman.

Want to see Life is Beautiful.

Hulababy · 13/02/2005 22:44

My friend's uncle directed Kramer v Kramer I think.

The film I mentioned before is called "Who will look after my children"

bundle · 13/02/2005 22:44

breaking the waves is v powerful...but nothing is as sad as Daddy, My Daddy - oh apart from Baby of Mine in Dumbo

oh and i always weep at truly, madly deeply

Hulababy · 13/02/2005 22:45

I think a lot of true wet weekday afternoon films, especially for when you are off sick from work.

Hulababy · 13/02/2005 22:52

Ah, 4 weddings - the funeral

But, DH has turned over again now to watch end of his film.

LapsedGymJunkie · 13/02/2005 22:58

Four Weddings gets me every time

marthamoo · 13/02/2005 23:00

Now I know how RTKangaMummy feels with her public announcements...

On Golden Pond (liked this, liked the father/daughter angst/love relationship - very resonant for me)

The Snowman - I put the video of this on for ds2 at Christmas, when he just turned 3, and he sat, riveted, watching it. And he never sits still. He watched the film, I watched him watching the film.

Stop all the Clocks in 4 Weddings and a Funeral...

I thought that love would last forever
I was wrong.

The Elephant Man - remember seeing this when I was quite young (about 12?) and feeling so angry at the injustice of how he was treated. Reminds me of Ryan's Daughter - has that been on yet?

LapsedGymJunkie · 13/02/2005 23:01

Philadelphia, memo to self buy it on DVD in order to show DS in the future that all people are equal.

marthamoo · 13/02/2005 23:02

I didn't like Philadelphia...

LapsedGymJunkie · 13/02/2005 23:04

long story but it hit a nerve at the time. Not the HIV but I just gotten over a huge cancer operation and when they put the oxygen mask on him I totally lost it.

Hulababy · 13/02/2005 23:05

The Office special now. Not sure if it should be so high up list though???
