I saw Sophie's Choice pre-kids and post-kids. Bad enough before, pretty much unbearable after.

Might have to assume the crash brace position when it comes on.

Oh noooo! Baby of mine! I cried and cried and CRIED when the Inferiorettes were watching Dumbo, much to their bemusement.

That Dumbo scene is very affecting, I agree. I haven't watched it for ages but reckon I'd still remember all the words to 'elephants on parade'! The number of mothers who die in Disney films is incredible. I haven't even seen Bambi but know I will cry if I ever do!

She rocks him in her trunk, swaying gently. To someone as fond of elephants as me that would jerk tears even before producing the Inferiorettes.

Report
motherinferior · 13/02/2005 21:36

I mean he sways gently, not her. Cradled in this swing-like trunk. Unless I am hallucinating, which is not impossible.

It's absolutely heart-rending.

And then the next morning she is driven away.

Dumbo was the first film I ever saw at the cinema. The seat kept closing up on me every time my Mum took her hand off it to light a cigarette. Ah, those were the days...smoking in cinemas and in the presence of small children.

Up to 60? An Affair to Remember was the last one.
