People have to work. It’s the same for ordinary people , if you’re in a contract you can’t just leave can you !

Ordinary people are eligible for paternity leave, if men.

Unless you’re very established, many celebrities’ careers are uncertain. I can see why they agree to as much work as they can if it’s as high profile as a prime time BBC show is, and their partners may put themselves second to support this.

I agree. I know people here always roll their eyes and say things like "Here's your 🏅" if someone says they coped okay with having a baby, but some people actually do, just as others find it harder.
Maybe she's got a mother who can come and stay.
And, no, not every father can just drop things immediately. My husband was a GP and the best he could do was take 2 weeks holiday around my due date.
DC was 3 weeks early.
I don't think people would have been thrilled to have their appointments cancelled at short notice.

Tinydanceer · 17/10/2026 20:35

I did 5 for Shaun 😍😍

Tinydanceer · 17/10/2026 20:37

Delta has a broken rib whoever was asking

dapsnotplimsolls · 17/10/2026 20:37

I loved Lacey's dance, made me feel emotional.

the80sweregreat · 17/10/2026 20:37

My dh had a week paternity off I think , but honestly I did much better with him out the way. We are all different though! Maybe Will and partner have a nanny ? Who knows.

the80sweregreat · 17/10/2026 20:38

Delta has a bad rib. She is resting up.

Mines in the forces - first baby 2.5 weeks late and we were kept in for a week so we got less than a day at home as a three before he had to report for duty.

A baby (in most circumstances) isn't an unexpected surprise - they would have been aware of the due date when he signed up to do the series and aware of the ramifications.

Yes - its a lot better than it used to be (DH was back at work a day after DC1 was born, was fortuitously on holiday for the event itself) but its still the case that for the self employed, men in small businesses and even some large get little or no paternity leave in practice. Public sector and large companies tend to be better but within those there are still ares where its very difficult.

the80sweregreat · 17/10/2026 20:45

Anyway, maybe Will will be in the Do as that wasn’t great. Him and Sarah

the80sweregreat · 17/10/2026 20:47

Delta is on the voice now !

xsquared · 17/10/2026 20:47

Tinydanceer · 17/10/2026 20:31

I hope delta withdraws - otherwise she will kill everyone off in the dance off

I hope not. Someone will miss out in the final who should be there.
Who says Delta will be the dance off assassin? I think it's only here that I've seen anti Delta comments.

the80sweregreat · 17/10/2026 20:50

Delta is a good dancer , so she’ll easily ace a DO with Sarah or Will for example.

Do you think her and Emma shared a cab to get there? 😉

the80sweregreat · 17/10/2026 20:51

Delta is someone who never looks any different does she! Fab Hair, glossy and perfect. It’s an art form I’ve never mastered myself.

I think mumsnet is a good barometer of those who watch

she will be like amber if she ends up in the DO week after week

I think if delta stays someone will be deprived of being in the final - and I prefer when there is less anyhow - they’ve had too many lately

Edited

It’s very boring - like Tess

Just caught up because I was behind on iplayer. Amused by the I correct time flounce!

I loved Tabby again. She has such an infectious smile and seems to be learning and improving which is the object of the exercise imo. Cach’s foxtrot was lovely and I hope he learns to enjoy ballroom. I like Graeme but that salsa was…odd. And that wig! Talking of wigs Shaun’s was back but at least it didn’t make a bid for freedom this time. I really dislike the couples ‘choice. It seems to be a bye for weaker dancers. The only one I thought was ever any good was Bill and Oti. Jaime was great this week as well.

I’m also going against the grain and saying I absolutely loved Emma’s skirt and shirt, but then I prefer under to over dressing

StuckAgain · 17/10/2026 20:59

Graeme looked like Michael Fabricant tonight.

Mumsnet is only a small sample of who watches. There will be many more not on MN who do not share the same view.

If Delta continues as she is, then she deserves her place in the final, like anyone on the show at present.

Amber suffered 3 dance offs, while Balvinder got the record of 6 last season.

I don't know if I understand this might of the crowd show and I'm good at maths.

Same. It’s hard to get your head around.

TheBroonOneAndTheWhiteOne · 17/10/2026 21:01

Just watched it on catch up.
I have reached the point where I now mute everything Johannes says as he's so wooden and uninspired.
A great shame, as I loved his dancing.

AlwaysRightISwear · 17/10/2026 21:02

My grandad didn't see my mum, his only child, until she was three BC it was WWII and he was in the Navy.

Agree to disagree
