Early for the Week Two thread but ITT doesn’t seem to be attracting a lot of traffic so I think it’ll work. I’ll do another on the night if I have to.

KEEP DANCING 💃💃

I want way MORE ringers.

Laurence, Cach and Bethany have either significant dance training or trained in musical theatre.

There is a ? whether Delta counts as a ringer. She's been in entertainment for a while singing and acting, but I don't think there's any dancing at all in her music videos.

Lacey was at Sylvia Young, but not for very long.

Recklessismymiddlename · 04/10/2026 13:59

I wouldn’t be sorry if Shirley went. In fact I’d be delighted.

The older pros have generally been round the block - if, like Anton, they have run dance schools, coached for competitions, judged at some level then it makes sense to have some represented in the judging team. When Anton stops playing the clown his actual technical advice is clear and specific - useful feedback for the pro and the celeb. I think Motsi came up through that path before judging on the German Strictly. Quite a number of past pros run dance schools and are involved in competition dancing at coach and judge level so there should be a decent number of candidates.

I'd agree someone from a show background without the teaching experience wouldn't make sense and I thought Alesha Dixon was a great celeb but a terrible choice for the judging panel.

I still don’t think it would work - it’s the same as Johannes being a presenter - it just doesn’t have any gravitas

the older pros aren’t on the judging circuit while they are on strictly and I know about their experience with dance schools etc

yes agree alesha didn’t work

Anton has worked because he was always destined for that role or presenting and he acted the fool mainly with the contestants he got and he is naturally funny

Ahh ok thank you.

Wonder if their is a climate of insecuity on the show - after all those professionals left last year. Might account for perceived flatness that some of us sense. Got to be a bit hard headed to survive in this business.

Someone mentioned Lauren was their new favourite since Karen left, i wonder if you read that and Karen just got stuck in your head 😀

Yes, that'll be me – sorry Grin

I don’t share your view - I thought she was professional witty and charming

Claudia?
Me too. IMO she's witty, warm, a bit nuts and a real original, but a consummate TV pro too. Remember when she'd just come back after her daughter had that horrific accident, and someone said something sweet to her and she almost lost it, but held it together to finish the link and hand over to Tess?

AlwaysExtraHot · 04/10/2026 14:28

the80sweregreat · 04/10/2026 13:16

Oh well, glad Karen is doing something else now.

Karen is/has been starring in a dance show in the theatre too. Stepping Out. She'll be just fine. I do think they made a mistake canning her though.

EineReiseDurchDieZeit · 04/10/2026 14:33

Yes I remember that @AlwaysExtraHot I thought she got the balance just right

Tess, Claudia, Janette, Fleur, Karen Nadya, MIchelle, Luba and Gorka. And Giovani and the other Grazianno before that. Big chunk of staff to leave for various reasons.

I think the poster read Karen meant Lauren and got muddled. I do it all the time.

TheSunIsAlwaysThere · 04/10/2026 15:07

Just finished watching Lacey. From the start I fast forwarded the VTs and now I'm not bothering to watch the Johannes bit or scores. Oh, Emma is speaking for once.

TennisWithDeborah · 04/10/2026 15:18

Claudia’s off the cuff jokes are what’s missing I think. Josh might be better upstairs with his comedian background. The three presenters all bring something to the party but it’s not gelling at the moment.

Despite new presenters and pros and celebs to get to know, it felt stale and I’m not sure why.

I wonder what the viewing figures were like.

Me too! Hated all the leering over the men.

nomdegrrr1 · 04/10/2026 15:37

I think that Julian is going to be in more dance offs.

Sarah is an athlete, but comes from no dance background apart from watching her daughter. It's going to be tough for her to find the performance part of dance. But after all those gold medals, I guess that she's not going to be giving up and she'll work at it like a demon.

Julian is, I think, getting used to Strictly, its standards, and what needs to be done. I'm getting the sense that while he's fairly chill, he's also competitive, and he seems very clear about teaching.

I think that the combination means that the routines are going to be drilled into both of them, but they may not get the popular vote. When they get to the dance off, the footwork and lifts (I'm betting on a lot of lifts) will be well executed. That will likely get them through a couple of times.

I also like Mark. Having someone chill and who looks classically trained isn't a bad thing. I think that he and Tabby will go far.

ithinkthereforeyouare · 04/10/2026 15:49

It’s ok it still needs rehashing a bit I agree Josh would be better doing the upstairs chats. I’d be surprised if Josh does more than one series

I don’t mind Shirley but I have to say I would have quite liked to shove those stupid little shoes where the sun doesn’t shine yesterday 🤬

Agree. Emma could do the introductions and send upstairs all by herself. Or with Anton.
I cringed at the length of time he tried to cover one celebrities nipples. Until I think someone said in his earpiece to stop. It went on for too long.
I also thought the Titanic scene with Shirley pointless.

Nadya was on ITT and seemed quite happy. Janette isn't happy about losing ITT though.

Think Melanie, Sarah or Chris should go…

I don't want Sarah to go. I think Melanie might have a limited time span and I don't think Chris would be much of a loss. The latter two might well be in the dance off and if Chris is I expect he'll go.

ScaredButUnavoidable · 04/10/2026 13:34

One random thing that does annoy me is that some dances seem to last for a good amount of time so it really showcases the stars and you can really get into it, and then other couple comes on and and their dance only lasts about a minute….. if not less (it feels).

Sometimes the dance comes to end and I’m like “Was that it?!”

I think it can depend on how much faffing abaaaaaht there is before they start actually dancing.

ShhhYouDontKnowMe · 04/10/2026 17:14

The death knell for me would be if Craig went. I think that might be the point I stop watching. As it is, we watched this week’s this morning so could happily fast forward anything that wasn’t a dance, judge’s comments or the scores.

the80sweregreat · 04/10/2026 17:17

Craig is my favorite too and the one to impress the most. Not an easy task.

I agree. Craig is the Simon Cowell of Strictly. Without him, it’s not the same programme.
