Aren't Motsi and Oti SA? They don't do that ott enunciating thing.

I wonder why his pood presenting skills weren't noted in auditions and rehearsals, this surely cannot be a shock to the producers?

Good point about the producers. And I don't think it being the first live show made much difference because JoJo didn't seem nervous or overwhelmed. Just not very good.

AlwaysRightISwear · 27/09/2026 20:27

Best case scenario is one of the male dancers goes off sick and JoJo has to step in for the rest of the series saving face by not actually sacking him. Then they quietly don't renew the contact for next year. Not that I wish any of them any ill...

Gottensomedraws · 27/09/2026 20:30

The talking over the noise of all the whooping was I think a crew issue though…. Johannes would be cued in by someone, and it just kept being done too soon. Hopefully they fix it for next week.
I’d like him to do well (all of them actually) they need time to bed-in. I do find the whooping of the other dancers a bit annoying though, and i hope next week they won’t be continuing the stupid ‘votes are open’ / plastic toys / more whooping!

Jessie Buckley won an Oscar this year and she was a runner up Nancy.

Illustrating exactly my point - She didn’t win the Nancy role - Lucky escape - turns out that was best - or else she’d be on emerdale and not getting an Oscar!

I’m talking about the presenters - it’s not translating to them being up to it but a nice idea initially

EineReiseDurchDieZeit · 27/09/2026 20:44

As there’s just under 100 posts left, I’m going to leave a new thread til morning. If, on the slim chance the thread fills someone step in, thank you!

That’s live but heavily scripted too, like Strictly. I’m not sure why everybody is so certain that Josh can ad lib - he doesn’t do live crowd work either. The Last Leg and Strictly are like oranges and fish paste.

He was absolutely brilliant on xfm live show was so so funny and clever quipping

I think the problem here is ad lib doesn’t have space downstairs he needs to get upstairs

I wonder if things don't improve in a few weeks whether one of the male pros will suddenly go down with "flu" (and maybe coincidentally end up with a few extra £££ in their bank account) whilst JoJo waltzes in to save the day. The only issue with that is that it might crush poor Neil's soul.

the80sweregreat · 27/09/2026 20:56

With the bbc having to make huge cutbacks and redundancies , I thought they would stay with two presenters to save money.

But that would be weird, because Neil’s role is to be a stand in.

I’m wondering if all 3 are only contracted for one series, it would make sense, but I don’t think the Beeb will want to lose face by not having them back.

Try but so far JoJo has been a disaster. He may improve, I hope he does, but. It's not looking good.

autumngirl714 · 27/09/2026 20:58

I have just caught up!
I loved it. Obviously it felt different, but I enjoyed it and I think it’ll get a lot better when they find their groove 😊.

I doubt very much they would worry bout saving face..they will get rid of need be imv

But all the fuss that was made about the “amazing chemistry” @Paddingtonsmarmaladesandwich2

Am watching on catch up and I just feel awkward for Josh …he looks really uncomfortable!

the80sweregreat · 27/09/2026 21:20

I think that they probably do get on ok, but last night just was a bad day in the office and it didn’t go that well.
The celebs were alright , but there are things to iron out with the presenters , although Emma wasn’t too bad at all.

I think that was the presenters talking, haven’t heard the bbc say anything

i guess you can have chemistry and doesn’t mean you’ll present well together on a live show

it feels to me like sharing the downstairs role is overkill, with them taking turns

Eh? That was literally what was said as the reason they were chosen, that they had amazing chemistry, or something

SpanishFly · 27/09/2026 23:27

"Strictly boss Sarah James said the new combination was "unexpected, but their magic was undeniable the moment they came together"."

I'm the same, I thought it was really enjoyable. Far more relaxed and light-hearted.

I don't think he was a disaster, I think he had a nice chat to the couples before the scores came in. Pleasant and unpretentious. Claudia Winkleman got on my nerves, trying to be quirky.

It's the way he speaks, I think he's fine.

I think Tess and Claudia were on huge money. These three will be on a lot less.

IDontDrinkTea · 28/09/2026 04:40

Clearly going against the grain here, but I really like Johannes new role. I thought he did a good job. Him talking while they run up the stairs seemed more of a crew issue - Claudia always used to start talking then too but her microphone was turned up louder so you could hear her over the applause.

Less keen on Josh - he made me cringe. If they were sure it needs to be three of them, I’d rather it was Ellie and Emma downstairs. Or even Abby, the girl that’s running the strictly social media

Quick google suggets Tess and Claudia were paid around £150k each, which isn't huge money.

I'd be surprised if these three were not in this ballpark - Emma is clearly worth more, but they obviously have to pay them all the same.
