Surely a bank statement would prove Susan's Tube journey? Elaine couldn’t have been more shifty the phone.

Elaine knew Susan was out.

As an aside, does anyone else think Elaine and Maria look alike?

It really is a big plot hole. No CCTV at the station is unlikely enough but she would have had to use either an Oyster card or her contactless card to travel and proof of that is easily shown.

The last time I was in London, it struck me that I was very much in the minority in using my contactless card on the Tube; most Londoners seem to just use their mobes. I just don't like the idea of relying on my phone for everything; if you lose it, you're fucked! But either way, it doesn't matter in this case, same result, the evidence would be there.

As soon as Eliot had been hit, my urgent thought was that Susan must remove the manuscript from her home, hide it somewhere safe and make it known she no longer has it. Whoever wants to keep his accusations secret is deadly serious.

I find her blasé approach to keeping it in her flat, practically bait to a murderer, then her relative calm at the break-in, extraordinary.

Has she already worked out who Eliot thinks did it and is actually using herself as bait to catch them? Why?

But if you live in London and you’re just visiting your friend or nan, you’re not actually far from help or a neighbour if you did lose your phone

Isn't there only one more ep to go?

Italiangreyhound · 25/10/2026 12:39

Is there only one eligible older woman in the whole of London!

diddl · 25/10/2026 14:52

Elaine knew Susan was out.

Yes, that seemed obvious didn't it?

Also, the detective likes detective novels, has read all the all the Pünd novels & likes to write-that's very convenient.

So according to Charles, Miriam had affairs, was away for a few months (reliable info?) also sacked the gardener...

Hmm!

Luan. Keeps getting mentioned...
