Tv pace thread, only on episode 2.

Aaah watching episode 2 now it makes more sense why they’ve cast Mark Bonnar in an American accent role in the Atticus Pund book. Such a contrast to the well acted dad in Susan Ryeland’s universe. The awkward explanation of why Achilles speaks perfect English shows up the hammy author, so I guess the hammy American is meant to show Eliot’s hammy writing too.

I got the info about future series from this Reddit AMA with the author Anthony Horowitz. https://www.reddit.com/r/MasterpiecePBS/comments/1wsikft/hi_reddit_im_author_and_screenwriter_anthony/ https://www.reddit.com/r/MasterpiecePBS/comments/1wsikft/hi_reddit_im_author_and_screenwriter_anthony/

Not sure what the Mile End mysteries are @HorseandHeron. Assuming you seen all 6 so no spoilers please

I enjoy the way the acting goes hammy in the ‘book’ parts. I hope it’s as much fun for the actors as it looks - go to Corfu and ham it up.Grin

According to the reddit link, AH is in the process of writing the Mile End mysteries.

I am late to the party. I have started watching Marble Hall and really love it so I am going to watch the other series.

I found the first episode quite confusing because there were so many characters (and I was confused about Susan speaking to Atticus Pund) so I watched it again with my husband and everything fell in to place.

You definitely need to concentrate on it.

You definitely need to concentrate on it.

Yes and Patricia Hodge being in both stories doesn't help!

I'm 4 episodes in and loving it. I've read the book but - fortunately - can't remember most of the plot (tho I know it wasn't set on Corfu)!
Lesley Manville is fab and I love her clothes, car, and beautiful flat in this series.

Yes, love the beautiful green flat.

The person in charge of the set obviously likes green as Elliot's kitchen has a similar green.

a lot of the actors are in both stories, but not all, at least not so far.

Blondeshavemorefun · 06/10/2026 14:23

Yes they usually have 2/3 act in the past and present

Ive watched all of them and enjoyed them but always slightly puzzled by her character, is she supposed to be generally annoyed/hacked off ? I’m all for a woman not putting up with any crap or having to be nice all the time but she sometimes seems antagonistic with no real reason.

Italiangreyhound · 10/10/2026 00:04

TorroFerney

Yes, i think she is quite grumpy.

I find her relationship with her sister rather strange. When she saw her nephew she said "you look a bit sweaty!"

And she never wanted to answer questions about her and Andres but was cross her sister hadn't told her about her divorce.

E3 tonight

What did you think @Blondeshavemorefun ? I’m about to start it

NewAgeNewMe · 11/10/2026 19:06

Shaping up nicely I thought.

Blondeshavemorefun · 11/10/2026 22:05

Def intriguing. I’m not sure what Elliot thinks killed his nan

but someone obv thinks he does with the ending of last nights e3

the adopted boy /man seems holds grudges with his bedroom

could he be the killer

I don’t think it is hubby Elmer

I don’t understand the change of clothes Either

OP posts:
NewAgeNewMe · 13/10/2026 04:22

Husband Elmer seems too obvious. Agree about the adopted man.

Will watch episode 4 on iPlayer on Thursday, probably, as away from Friday to Monday. Otherwise on return. Will see what I get a chance to do. As also Strictly to watch.

Blondeshavemorefun · 13/10/2026 10:11

NewAgeNewMe · 18/10/2026 06:11

Someone trying to set Susan up. Who though? One of the family? Not binged, this one. Have loved it and want to savour it.

Blondeshavemorefun · 18/10/2026 08:42

Yes someone def stole her car and hit him

I didn’t expect him to die one we saw him in hospital

the white blank page at end was amusing

OP posts:
Blondeshavemorefun · 18/10/2026 08:44

The man who had the key who is the ‘dad’ of baby - is that the adopted man

sure I have face blindness at times as get confused who is who

he seems dodgy and if he is the adopted one - that’s who I said the other week I think is the killer
