A shiny new thread for a shiny new series. Please bring your dancing shoes over here.

Not sure whether I am doing weekly threads or not yet. Yet to decide, but I’m doing one for the first episode anyway.

The preshow chat thread has been quiet and I’m wondering if lots of people aren’t watching due to the departure of Tess and Claude. I have my reservations about the new presenting team but I’m willing to give them a chance.

Eek that's a worry number of week 1 Sambas! I understand the plan of get it out the way while the field is wide and the odds of going are low but I think it will make for a hard watch. 💃🕺

Really excited about tonight's show. First time ive watched it in years and I have DD11 here this weekend so we can watch together.
I stopped while I was with my ex as he didnt enjoy it so I just kind of phased out of watching.

I wish they would revert to two dances a week with the more difficult dances started later in the series. That made comparisons easier (and fairer). Its a bit rough being given a foxtrot or samba week one and being up against people starting on the easier dances.

I’ve no real idea, but some of those dances look very complicated for a first go at the lives!
I’m sure they used to start them off with easier ones.

They definitely are harder dances.

I think I'm right in thinking all the couples used to do two dances between them, much easier to see who was any good when there were only two different dances to critique. They missed a chance to bring that format back with the "reboot."

There's always a goosebump moment of the series you need to discuss - I wasn't that sold on Karen as the winner (Lewis was robbed) but the first dance when she came out and danced like that so unexpectedly was that moment last series.

That dance in week one by Karen and Carlos was, as Craig said, jaw dropping! I stood up and clapped even though I was just in my living room!

Great to see Sarah Storey on Striictly. I have no idea if she can dance, but I do know that she is one of the greatest sportswomen this country has ever produced and if I were competing against her in anything I would be worried.

Absolutely l. She is awesome in the true sense of that word. Most decorated Paralympian!

I loved it. I thought it had a great new energy. Tess and Claudia just lacked energy in recent series. I hated all the shite in the Claudatorium so contrived.

JoJo was way better than I expected. Josh was nervous but I think he’ll settle. Emma was strong but the dress was terrible.

Looking forward to this season.
