Couldn’t find a thread for this!

Just me watching the new series? I enjoyed last nights episode, little Jimmy is a sweetie.

Something tells me will hear the new vet talk about being a vet but no actual vet-ting going on

And yea I deliberately made that word up, not a spoiler just a feeling

I remember the character Granville from the original series and books.

So pleased to see this back again... it's an hour of pure escapism!

I'm giving a talk in a Care Home on Thursday about the Home Front in WW2 so was trying to see which sweets were on the shelves behind Alfred's owner! I've bought aniseed balls, mint imperials, cola cubes, licourice torpedos, rhubarb & custard and barley sugar... I intend to butter up the residents with confectionary!! (Which will be better that the Carrot Buns I made this afternoon on rations!!)

Anyway - back to ACGAS! I was impressed with Audrey's knitting on 3 pins!

But would the sweet shop have been that full in 1946 with some rationing still around

That’s rather what I thought about all the cakes and scones people were making for the 80th anniversary of DDay celebrations.

I liked the two pig farmers! Proud of their spade and trousers 😊

Cola cubes in WWII? I’d be surprised. Don’t forget Maynard’s milk bottles, my favourites. I loved Alfred, the little girl is gorgeous and I love the whole programme

I did google this, because I remember my grandad always had some (this would have been 1970s though). It turns out they were introduced in the 1940s as Kola Cubes.

What’s really surprised me this week, is introducing a character called Zoe, which appears to have been very, very rare for babies born in the 1920s.
