I can't remember much of series 1 although it wasn't that long ago.

As usual I had to get OH to explain the significance of the stuff she found at the end.

The actor playing Sandra is gorgeous and she’s a brilliant actor.

I do like Blue Lights but it's starting to go the same way as The Bill and turning into a soap opera. 20% action to keep you hooked and 80% relationships.

That's a little harsh on The Bill. It went through varying formats in its 26 years on screen and the relatively short 'soap opera' phase was never 80% relationships; what they did was have a relationship-focused story arc play out over quite a long period, the individual episodes still centred police procedure, it was probably more like 60% procedure, 40% soap at that stage.

The soap opera phase was good though, I was on the edge of my seat over Sgt. Gilmore and Luke Ashton, when they finally kissed, it was amazing! And Cathy Bradford turning into a psychopath, oh, that was good TV!

I'm definitely not enjoying this series as much as the previous ones. The first episode was good but I've not really been that interested since then

I find her incredibly wooden. She always has a look of bewilderment about her. I just can't believe that she's a police officer - she always looks so down trodden and passive to me. And I can't buy her relationship with Gerry.

I agree @Arran2024. I don't think she's particularly attractive or talented and find her and Gerry an odd combination.

I think the actress playing Sandra is great.
I thought the actor playing Gerry hammed it up a bit last night.
It was like “Oh Gerry was such a popular distinctive character in the show, let’s bring him back” and they did, with bells on.
I feel bad saying it as I am delighted when actors get jobs.
It is such a cut throat industry.

Blondeshavemorefun · 23/10/2026 17:57

What did she find in the file?

A letter from Nicola agreeing - I think - that the knowledge of Macintyres and ignoring what they were doing and special service

as was an informant

plus with flashback you know the bomb that killed happy dad and brother that happy and Gerry saw blow up was via macintyres but was told to leave it as an informant

and why he never progresssed as was told to shut up /resign or never get promoted so he decided to stay so that they didn’t win
