Sandra had the rookie cop from series 1 with her, the one who was with Gerry when he died. The top cop's daughter who didn"t want to be in the police and left.

Banjas · 14/10/2026 18:08

I know that @CaptainMyCaptainnut she was also there as a Prosecution witness. It was stretching credulity that Sandra had no family or friend of her own to support her.

I suppose not that unlikely if she'd moved to Belfast to be with Gerry and had no children. Perhaps she didn't want any relatives from England to be involved. The court case and evidence was pretty unpleasant. I don't think it stretched credulity. Not everyone has extended family anyway.

I'm not sure how old Sandra is but I wouldn't class her as young - it's possible her parents in London are infirm or elderly and not up to travelling to Belfast.

I would put her kate 40’s early 50’s

Yes - just checked and Andi Osho who plays Sandra is 53, a similar age to me. Sadly, my parents now in their 80s with dementia and other health issues, couldn't travel on the bus into the next town, let alone from England to Northern Ireland, so it's quite plausible that Sandra's parents couldn't make the journey from London to Belfast.

That's lovely to hear. It is the sort of age where there can be vast differences in capability from person to person. My MIL is older than my parents but mentally sharp as a tack - her mobility has gone, though. My dad is fully mobile but his brain has gone, and my mum has lost both. The lottery of old age.

Oh, that’s sad to hear. If it’s amazing how different people can be.

I will say those I’m sure when Mini blonde was born that she gave my dad a new lease of life due to my mum dying previously two years before that

is her only grandparent alive due to me being an older mum as mother nature didn’t play ball but the love they have for each other is so lovely to see

Family doesn’t just mean her Mum and/or Dad.
Siblings.
Friends too.
I still think it was odd considering the writer of the episode is female.

Blondeshavemorefun · 15/10/2026 16:02

True. You wouid have thought someone be with her

I thought so disappointing. Maybe because at the moment there’s just so many better options

Blondeshavemorefun · 15/10/2026 16:54

E4 is meant to be the best one

for obvious reasons

I nearly pressed play on next week’s episode as I’m convinced it will be nail-biting after 2 relatively “quiet” episodes…only managed to resist as I got a phone call 😬

I confess I did press play 🙈

I will rewatch and join the discussion on Tuesday evening.

diddl · 16/10/2026 18:35

Just watched ep3.

Disappointed for Gerry although I guess that's the problem with turning a blind eye to crime for info.

Was the joint enterprise thing always going to be hard to prove?

Blondeshavemorefun · 20/10/2026 14:33

E4 tonight. Passes tissues

Peachy2005 · 20/10/2026 22:24

Not what I was expecting: @Blondeshavemorefun you obviously knew more about what was going to be in this one. I hadn’t watched any interviews about it. As it was all historical, I feel like 2 more episodes won’t be enough to wrap anything up.

SevenSeasOfRhye · 20/10/2026 22:33

Nor I @Peachy2005 - I was 'what's going on here?' until I realised the whole thing (almost) was a flashback.

It was interesting to see how they got together and I thought the romance was well done.

Agree that it doesn't leave much time to wrap things up. The contents of that file must be quite explosive!

Peachy2005 · 20/10/2026 22:45

Yes the romance was sweet and poignant. I don’t remember Gerry sticking his chin up/gurning quite so much back in the day but I’m sure if I re-watched series 1, his mannerisms would come back to me. I had also forgotten his connection to the friend whose dad and brother were killed in the bombing. It’s hard to see what Colette can do with the file now…

Arran2024 · 20/10/2026 22:48

I find the whole Gerry thing very difficult to watch because I remember him removing the old lady's ring from her finger in the first series - he sent Tommy upstairs. In this series he is treated like a saint.

Peachy2005 · 20/10/2026 22:53

Ooh maybe I do need to go back to Series 1, don’t remember that at all. Maybe he’s a wrong ‘un 🤔

Peachy2005 · 20/10/2026 23:50

Omg had completely forgotten Colin’s Code from S1E1 and tonight we got to see the original incident 😂

Isn’t that the scene where they come across two young men who’ve overdosed and Gerry sends Tommy upstairs?
