New 6 episode drama on Sundays on itv

A police procedural fronted by Michelle Keegan and Douglas Booth, where they play detectives with a highly charged attraction to each other? Say less, ITV. We’re in.

This prime-time crime drama starts off in a depressingly predictable manner, when the body of a young woman is found in the small town of Wakestead, where DI Crane (Keegan) and DI Radley (Booth) work.

But as they work to uncover what happened to teenage figure skater Sophie Madsen, they discover “a tangled web of lies, institutional cover-ups, and moral compromise”.

the show will tackle the sadly very real misogyny that can be found in the UK police force.

The series also looks to have been influenced by the two Metropolitan police officers who took and shared photos (https://www.theguardian.com/uk-news/2021/dec/06/two-met-police-officers-jailed-photos-murdered-sisters-deniz-jaffer-jamie-lewis-nicole-smallman-bibaa-henry) “for their own amusement” from the murder scene of two Black women in 2020.

Keegan also looks like she’ll be turning whistleblower, turning her sexist colleagues against her in the process.

As the official synopsis says: “Crane must navigate both a murder investigation and the treacherous politics inside her own team.”

Alongside Keegan and Booth, you’ll also see Ian Hart, Nathan Mensah, Nigel Boyle, Joe Armstrong, Matilda Freeman, Gavin Spokes, Josh Bolt, Vikash Bhai and Ceallach Spellman all popping up.

What else do we know about The Blame?

The Blame is based on the 2023 book of the same name by Charlotte Langley, and is written, developed for television and executive produced by Megan Gallagher, who previously worked on All Her Faultand Wolf. Gallagher explained her rationale for creating the show, describing it as “such an important and urgent story to tell” right now.

ITV’s director of drama Polly Hill added: “The Blame is a brilliant new crime thriller full of surprising twists and a compelling investigation that also cleverly tackles police corruption, exploitation and misogyny as the thriller unravels…

This is going to be an unmissable drama and one I’m very proud to have on ITV.”

It was definitely Tom's ex partner the Asian detective that was watching him from the bushes at the end of an episode.

Ah, I did think it could have been him.

I'm starting to think this. Why wouldn't he have told Emma about the women she's just spoken too?

Uh oh!

Toms face looks more bruised

I would have curtains shut

Clever how cross match bank stuff with cctv and patterns of travel

Chief has huge ears that stick out. Never noticed that in harry p / he seems to want to blame tom

Suprised they allowed interviews of a male police officer with a female reporting abuse without another female there

I don't think it is James / he's slimy but I feel not him. Not sure why

So another copper. Maybe beardy man. Maybe another one.

Tho he's lied about the video even after he's seen it so he's still in the running so looks like it's prob him and not James

Esp as Kenneth Walker signed off the reports

And this is why the 4yrs ago is important. She framed an innocent man

Gillian’s son in last tango in Halifax

I missed it years ago and started watching it over the last few months - On s5 e4 now - 2012 - 2020

Yes Vogel was innocent of that particular crime. But he was guilty of the others and so still deserves to be in prison, as he is.

JenniferBooth · 28/09/2026 22:19

Douglas Booth played Boy George in Worried About The Boy

moto748e · 28/09/2026 22:26

But in the brief flash-backs we've seen before, I don't remember Vogel angrily proclaiming his innocence? I thought he was smug and guilty. Am I misremembering? Or perhaps the implication is that Vogel had better keep his trap shut, or else?

moto748e · 28/09/2026 22:31

I liked how both Walker and Emma chose to take a very bullish, "get your retaliation in first" tactic with the Internal Affairs woman, and I think it served them both well, short-term. Trouble is, neither of them know how much she already knows, or will soon find out.

I think he admitted to raping her but not killing her

OP posts:
moto748e · 28/09/2026 22:58

Thanks. But sure Emma is in deep do-do? All that, "I'll take a polygraph that Tom didn't plant find it" is all well and good, but obviously the next question is going to be, if it wasn't him, who was it?

PrincessScarlett · 28/09/2026 22:58

Okay, so I'm also starting to think Tom is actually the killer.

I think he's been playing Emma the whole time they've worked together. 4 years ago is important because Tom made Emma frame Vogel (knowing that he actually killed Amber) and now Emma is indebted to Tom in case he grasses her up. That will be his final hurrah if things don't go his way. He'll throw Emma under the bus. I wouldn't be surprised if Emma has somehow been complicit in Tom's crimes without even knowing it.

Tom is getting away with it in plain site because all the other coppers at Wakestead are vile misogynistic pigs. He's acting like the charming and helpful one. Tom being at the bedside of that woman who said he was 'one of the good ones' is really fucking creepy if he is indeed the one that drugged and raped her. And a psychopath would indeed do something like this. Think of all the serial killers over the years that have been absolutely charming and that is how they initially escaped justice and were allowed to go on killing.

And who's to say Sophie didn't have the measure of Tom. We only have Tom's version of their conversation. Tom said he didn't know Sophie was contacting victims but what if he did know. Tom having his car cleaned is obvious red flag but he claimed he panicked and he's relying on everyone thinking he's a decent guy to just overlook that.

Obviously the vile police officers need bringing to account but Emma thinks one of them is the killer because they are vile. She hasn't even considered they are just horrible men but not killers.

If there is a series 2, Emma and Lewis will be partners. I like Lewis.
