In the soaps, not only do extended family all live together, they move in with the neighbours at the drop of a hat. Not to mention rarely dating anyone outside the village or street. Where I live, there is a pub, cafe, hairdressers, shops within a stones throw and we all know each other. To my knowledge, no one has rented a room or jumped into bed. It is very dull in comparison lol.
