It's getting beyond ridiculous now. There are loads of genuine former characters they could bring back even with different actors.
I loved Scrlett - she was a bit ditsy but a fun character. Now would be a perfect time to bring her back instead of a made up daughter of Kim's.

The end scene really creeped me out I could think how Kim had got to the hospital when she had been arrested! Before I realised it was a flashback.

I hope I don't offend ..but would Kim have had a termination if she didn't want to have the child ?

And yes .. Scarlett should have come back for Jimmy's funeral

I think that the writers really need to remember that the show belongs to the viewers. They are being very disrespectful to every actor, actress and viewer that has gone before by writing this nonsense. We aren't idiots so stop treating us as such. As for getting rid of Nick, to presumably pay for cheaper new characters we hate or bring back expensive unnecessary and unwanted characters, those especially needing a job so not for the love of the character, it is a disgrace and unforgivable.

We need older writers who remember how it used to be.

Probably. Their backstories are ridiculous and they add nothing to the show.
It's especially annoying that established actors have been got rid of to accommodate them.

And I also think the writers need to remember Classic Emmerdale airs in the afternoon and quite a few of us watch it and stuff has happened so no point trying to change history

Corrie did that with Toyah a while ago and we complained on the Corrie thread because it wasn’t that long ago, we watched something happen with Toyah in Classic Corrie so we were not happy

I think if Serena was introduced differently then maybe we could have got on board because she does have her nice moments but she came in and immediately started snooping and gossiping

@bizzey thats a very good point. I’m not sure because she isn’t that maternal but does love Joe and the kids. I wonder if it’ll come out that Thea and Jamie know each other and this is just speculation on my part but why else would she have this vendetta?

I hate how Serena teleports herself into every situation and gives her expert advice. She’s been like that since day 1 when she parked at the lakeside for a pee in the bushes and just happened to land in the middle of poor Charity’s mental health crisis.

Also hating how they've turned Ruby into a devious, scheming baddie. I know she’s not popular on here but I’ve always liked her character. Her acting was brilliant while her backstory unfolded. Now they’ve turned her into a nasty cow. It would have been more in character for Caleb to have plotted against Joe but out of the blue the script writers made Ruby set it up.

Also, why does Thea hate Kim so much? She'd never get on Long Lost Family. Most people who are adopted don't go trying to frame their birth mother for murder. Thea seems to have done alright for herself getting into the police. It doesn't make sense that she would want to destroy Kim without even knowing her or wanting to find out why she was adopted. Utterly ridiculous.

Me either. They didn't exactly try and make Kim look 20+ years younger

@Jitterybugs2 it's very annoying how Serena is everywhere and everyone believes every word she says.

Ruby was horrible to begin with then I was just beginning to like her and they've turned her into a horrible vindictive cow.

Thea hasn't bothered to find out why Kim gave her up for adoption. Not every mother who does it does so because they couldn't be bothered with the baby

Exactly what I was thinking. You could just about forgive this ridiculous storyline if it was more true to what happens IRL. And a decent writer would be able to make that 'nicer' story work well.

I've watched tonight's as doing a power down. No spoilers. But I'm worried about some posters blood pressure, this is a well being post.

The writers are just crap ! We’d do a better job.

Anyone catch sight of a new TV drama, Number One Fan? Will (Dawn's dad) playing a Jeremy Kyle type character!
