When it comes to detective dramas, Channel 5 has proved itself to be pretty good at them and The Game is a case in point.

You see, the series 1 finale episode saw the arrest of the serial killer in question - Patrick (Robson Green) - and many fans assumed he’d be locked up for good.

Not quite, however. Both Huw Miller and Robson Green will be back for series 2 – meaning this cat-and-mouse chase isn’t over yet.

The four-part drama first premiered in May 2025 and introduces us to Huw Miller (Jason Watkins), a police detective who’s haunted by the unsolved case of a stalker-serial killer who wreaked havoc in his town, as well as the new neighbour, Patrick Harbottle (Robson Green) who he believes is him.

While Huw is attempting to settle into retirement, he can't get the case off his mind and so he begins his hunt for the Ripton Stalker.

The question is: has Huw finally got his man in the form of his neighbour – or is his obsession with the case clouding his judgement?

If you haven’t yet watched the series, this is your cue to look away now, as series 1 concluded with a serious showdown between Patrick and Huw in which Patrick stabbed Huw in the chest – at the very moment that police burst in.

The second series will pick up a year after the first, and see the return of former detective Huw, who did in fact survive the stabbing.

Huw believes he’s finally escaped the psychological grip of serial killer, Patrick (Robson Green), given that he’s now firmly behind bars

So, what else should he do than retreat with his wife Alice (Sunetra Sarker) to an isolated house by the sea and rebuild a quiet life, away from the violence that nearly left him dead?

Nothing is quite that simple in The Game, however, and Huw quickly realises that peace is merely an illusion.

Just finished watching Series 2 Episode 1 and recognised the Raine actress from her voice!

Cant believe Patrick is still managing to get to Huw from behind bars and after a year has passed!

Was the guy Alice met on the beach that missing Jonathan Gower guy whose photo Huw found in his house later? If so, why would she meet him and how did she know him? If not, who is he?

I love the voice of robson green as Patrick. The tone of his words

he plays the character so cleverly

Plus does he really think the police will let him out of their sight and if he kills hin then will go to prison leaving Margot

tho I still say they aren’t sad enough of Alice’s death

It's quite creepy

I've only watched episode 1 so far but why, when the police woman and the main character come to visit the stalker in prison, are they in a big room with upturned chairs on tables? And not a normal visiting room in a prison? Bit confused

I've watched both episodes of Series 2 now. I think that poor guy Ian is going to have to kill himself in his prison cell because of the vicious rumour Patrick and Jackie set up about him being the grass.

And I'm seriously worried for Margot now as well. I really want Huw to suss out that Jackie is the one working with Patrick. Was outraged when the silly bitch went round to his house to make out it was Jenny who was the leak rather than her 🤬

I’m halfway through episode 1. It’s quite interesting and very creepy. Sunetra Sarker’s in everything these days, or they all come out at the same time - this, Professor T, Hairdresser Murders (or whatever it’s called). I like her though and wish she hadn’t been killed off

Huw seems to have got over his wife's death quite quickly.

He needs to start disbelieving what the prison officer told him. She is a weird character , overcome with excitement at scaring people and loving being in cahoots with Patrick !!

Indeed! As if being the guvnor of a prison is not a big enough power trip already 🙄
