I miss the Mel and Sue segments where they would randomly visit a medieval castle to learn how to make a game pie in a medieval kitchen that Henry VIII would have eaten. When did they stop doing that?

For you bakers were they given sufficient time for the last bake because it seemed to go wrong time wise for a lot of them?

I’m boggling at how much cake the judges need to eat at this stage in the series! DH’s office had a bake-off today, and he brought me home a big slice of stout cake with cream cheese icing, and it was delicious, but I was done after that slice, and I have a good appetite! I’d be sick! How do they do it?

I'd say 2.15 was tight but doable. They did get to practice at home so should have worked out what they could manage in the time. A single layer non bundt cake would always be hardest because it would take longest to cook and to cool. So as much a test of their planning as their baking really.

I like Alison. I thought I'd like Nigelka too but so far she's struck me as being vain and self satisfied. I'll reserve judgement.

Aw, we love Alison! I think it's been a warmer and more supportive show since she joined. Matt Lucas never seemed that interested in the baking or the bakers.

I agree that Alison brings warmth to this.
