Trailer for the new series just dropped - no transmission date yet though.

Anyone else excited to see how Nigella gets on as the new judge? A worthy successor to Pru and Mary, I think.

I’m a couple of mins behind, but baking from what is in the cupboard isn’t really a challenge. I do it regularly.

lettingthedaysgoby · 06/10/2026 20:37

I thought the point of this was for everyone to do the same thing so they displayed their skills against each other? This is just a load of different bakes...

PotterHead1985 · 06/10/2026 20:37

So Swiss meringue buttercream seems an all round disaster in the tent today!

GetSetFake · 06/10/2026 20:37

Those glass bowls are absolutely pointless. Style over substance. Give me a dented metal one I can drop on the floor any day.

As a baker and fan of cheesecake I looked at Moyin’s and knew it would be good!
It had the perfect jiggle 😊

It looked fantastic - my mouth was watering. I love cheesecake but not too mucked about - that combo of filling and slightly tart decoration would be perfect. I like Gary's as well but with less lake.

Well yes, that is what they've done on every single technical challenge since bake off began. But this is at least as much a test of skill. I think it makes a really interesting change.

Ok so my personal opinion is plase never bring this round back again.

Deal. I want cosy comfort predictability not all messed with.

She's overcorrected, from too much flavour to too little.

I fear id have done something similar.

Apparently Lidl now do mobile over here?!

CrushingOnRubies · 06/10/2026 20:49

I enjoyed that technical. it’s allowing them to do what they know. When you think how often they have no idea what the finished product should look like. This played to their strengths

Sminty2 · 06/10/2026 20:50

Hobnobswantshernameback · 06/10/2026 20:20

what a pile of gimmicky pointless bollocks
and fuck off with your boy band thrupple nonsense
I am I'll tempered
what happened to baking
just talented people baking

I’m with you. This is woeful nonsense.
I want proper baking!

bungobungobungo · 06/10/2026 20:50

I didn’t mind that new twist on the technical. The bakers really had to pull out their creativity and be brave.

So do I, but not without a recipe! Also, it's harder if you're not in your own kitchen AND you're on telly and being judged.

Piggywaspushed · 06/10/2026 20:52

That technical was a bit Masterchef .

littlbrowndog · 06/10/2026 20:53

What something you can wear. Heck

Dilemma999 · 06/10/2026 20:53

Yes, they do that challenge on Masterchef.

Wearable baking - sigh.

WhisperingAngelisnotbad · 06/10/2026 20:54

Did someone just suggest that they make a defecate jerkin? Surely I misheard??

GetSetFake · 06/10/2026 20:54

And you have to make something as good as or better than everyone else. Really not that straightforward. I thought it was a really interesting challenge.

bah humbug
im boring I know
but fuck me
this is just awful

Hobnobswantshernameback · 06/10/2026 20:55

At least the technical actually judged their basic baking nous

TheExtraGuineaPig · 06/10/2026 20:55

But why? What for?
