Anyone else annoyed the BBC have cancelled Winterwatch. It was bad enough when they cancelled Autumnwatch.
I have emailed both BBC and Feedback.

Yes
I watch Chris Packham on FB
and he announced it

Aparently we’ll be getting some YouTube/ blog stuff in its place. It didn’t say if it was subject related

TV is becoming so crap these days I’d like much more educational stuff rather than all this
reality tv

MissMarplesNiece · 04/07/2026 20:17

A very poor decision by the BBC.

ranoutofquinoaandprosecco · 04/07/2026 20:21

Oh no, love watching these and so does DCat!
I also remember tweeting them when the DCs were little to ask if rabbits get stung by nettles and they did reply, and yes they probably do get get stung!
BBC this is a very bad decision.

Veronyk · 04/07/2026 20:24

I'm very interested in wildlife, but I can't watch because the presenters irritate me. Maybe I'm not alone?

HoraceCope · 04/07/2026 20:34

that is SUCH a shame

HoraceCope · 04/07/2026 20:35

is Spring Watching carrying on?
i remember watching that in about 2006

DaysIllRememberAllMyLife · 04/07/2026 20:35

This is a shame. I wonder what the reasoning is for it.

UnderMyOwnVineAndFigTree · 04/07/2026 20:38

Really disappointing.
I think they'll regret it.

GOODCAT · 04/07/2026 20:39

Real shame, it is the sort of programme I would expect the bbc as a public broadcaster to do.

Ohwhatfuckeryitistoride · 04/07/2026 20:39

Its just so irritating that programs of worth are being scrapped, but they can spaff money on the umpteenth version of celebrity masterchef race around the world on ice.

Yes for now Springwatch is continuing, thank goodness.

I’m disappointed and worried this is the thin end of the wedge for the other ‘watches’.

🤯

in other words
crap tv

Pancakeflipper · 04/07/2026 20:47

Yes. I am annoyed.

I am sure it is good for my mental health.
And I am sure encourages people to go bird sanctuaries etc.

Yourmywifenow · 04/07/2026 20:47

I read podcast (video) with questions from public or something. So YouTube. That does annoy me as you need to pay the licence fee for Iplayer but not for podcasts.
Plus there are loads of nature podcasts, I like Trees a crowd. Cost cutting!

I’ll amend my pp

It did say podcasts. I wasn’t aware there was much of a difference
🫤😆

To me its much the same as reality bloody tv

Yourmywifenow · 04/07/2026 21:13

I don’t understand why people want to watch a Podcast, the best bit about a podcast is to listen while doing other things! I like to listen to while driving and doing housework!

Yourmywifenow · 04/07/2026 21:16

I do listen to some that are filmed but I just think what is the point. Make your mind up.
But is definitely cheap!

No you are not! CP talks utter rubbish.

Jsonwbia · 04/07/2026 21:29

Oh I hadn't heard about this, what a shame

I don’t mind CP but I don’t watch often because Michaela irritates me. Having said that I don’t understand why it’s being cancelled.

LittleGreenDragons · 04/07/2026 21:39

I had heard about Winterwatch but not Autumnwatch. Bloody hell. Why can't they get rid of Strictly or Wimbledon or that useless boat race instead? How many episodes of Bargain Hunt or Homes under the Hammer (with multiple presenters, surely one is sufficient?) do we need?. I've just looked at BBC1 for the week and I see absolutely nothing except wall to wall Wimbledon and FIFA.

MyOtherProfile · 04/07/2026 21:40

Oh no, I hadn't heard this news. Gutted. In my opinion this is why we have the BBC, to produce niche programmes that educate or entertain without having to be super popular with everyone.

Nesbi · 04/07/2026 21:40

Who would have thought it - decimate the BBCs funding and it can’t afford to make all the programmes it used to make. When it stops making them, people get pissed off.

When we were a genuinely wealthy country, when vast amounts of public money didn’t go towards paying the interest on the huge debt the nation now carries, we could afford to have wonderful things - like a health service, a decent transport network, the worlds best public service broadcaster.

Now that all our money is lost in repaying interest on our loans, we are getting smaller and smaller. The things we loved are disappearing, the cracks are literally showing (just look at the potholes in our roads). This is what it looks like.

Thawtfulpanda · 04/07/2026 21:43

I like the animal bits, hate the presenter bits. It's as bad as watching football pundits go on and on. t.
