Anyone else annoyed the BBC have cancelled Winterwatch. It was bad enough when they cancelled Autumnwatch.
I have emailed both BBC and Feedback.

Oh no!

What a stupid decision. The Watch programmes are BBC at it's best. Informative, educational, entertaining and inspiring.Sad

@Nesbi , maybe there would be more money for the BBC if the government had not wasted 2.1 BILLION on hotels for asylum seekers in 2025. But judging from the tone of your post, I guess you are one of the pink haired brigade who supports all that.

No, there wouldn't.
What a stupid thing to say.🙄

Less Chris Packam on TV is a good thing

I disagree. The BBC is supposed to be neutral. And their presenters are also supposed to be publicly neutral. Many other presenters have been let go or dropped from shows when they have overstepped politically - even when they have been said whilst not directly working for the BBC. Yet somehow Packham has been allowed to repeatedly spread his views both as fact and on his BBC shows for years. It’s not ok and I’m glad it is being stopped

I didn’t answer this response to my post as I thought it not worth bothering. But you’ve said just what I’d have said if I had have!
He’s been enabled by the BBC for far too long. Good riddance.

Branleuse · 07/07/2026 08:11

Yeah. Super disappointed.

Unless they've got bigger plans for Packham, but I think he would have said

Dontgetstuckinthepast · 07/07/2026 08:14

Yes, SO sad.
It's something I always make time for.

No skin in the game, but just to say Gary Linekar addressed this point recently that it’s only news/current affairs presenters who are bound by the neutrality thing, and there’s nothing in the contract about such things for other presenters. Course his politics still got him in trouble there, but technically it’s not true to say CP has to be neutral. Anyway I agree it’s all political as the cuts are huge and bound to mean some people’s favourite shows simply can’t be sustained.

I saw a comment (maybe on here!) that said how can the BBC cancel Winterwatch and Springwatch but continue with Mrs Brown's Boys? A view I would endorse.

Because Chris Packham isn't on Mrs Brown's Boys...😉

You dont have to get rid of Autumn watch to get rid of CP.🙄

This is a loss. The BBC need to reconsider.

HurrahforHollywood · 08/07/2026 04:47

Oh no! I didn't know about this. Absolutely gutted. There is so much absolute bollocks on TV , it's barely watchable anymore. Another nail in the coffin.

Yourmywifenow · 08/07/2026 10:31

I can’t believe Winterwatch costs that much to make!
It’s one of best programs we still watch as a family. I would watch YouTube and listen to Podcasts but I’m not sure a lot of the Winterwatch audience would. They are probably already watching YouTube and listening to podcasts already!
I also use to love Unsprung.

I couldn’t agree more!

Yourmywifenow · 08/07/2026 10:54

When Autumnwatch was cancelled Chris Packham did a YouTube channel live for a couple of weeks. Was very good.

I don't think it's cheap to make - lots of outside broadcasting - but on the other hand I don't think it's exorbitantly expensive compared to ongoing drama series with lots of expensive regular cast member salaries.
