Oh no Hubi has retired - go Struffy!

I wanted the interviewer to ask Felix about the beef but he didn’t - ADF is a bit of a drama magnet

JaneJeffer · 05/07/2026 20:28

I’m imagining a Struff/Bublik final now Grin

What just happened at the end of the Felix Auger match? The Spanish players was having words with him.

ADF was injured and Felix didn't think it was as bad as he made out, because it was when Felix had match points. But the injury had happened earlier on.

And in the end, Felix nearly won the final set 6-0 anyway, so I'm not sure what his issue was really.

Bublik has to win it one year. Even by default Grin.

Well done Naomi. Sabalenka is out…

sorry not watch much tennis this weekend. DP is home for a rare weekend won’t be back for over a month so only fair I let him watch the F1. And I mean all of the F1.

however this thread did make me answer knowledgeably some questions which DPs dad had yesterday. Which were bordering on the ignorant tbh.

I’m glad we’ve been of assistance Grin

IceandIndigo · 05/07/2026 20:33

That’s really a shame about Hubi. He was having a really good tournament.

JaneJeffer · 05/07/2026 20:34

Yeah ADF wouldn’t fake an injury, unlike some people I could mention.

JaneJeffer · 05/07/2026 20:40

If Tomas Berdych was there they’d make him play in the dark!

I'm kind of annoyed that Shintaro seemed to be pushed to close the roof when he had momemtum.

I'm surprised that Djok and Felix have only played twice and the last time was 4 years ago.

Naomi is in the studio with Clare - they both seem a bit bemused

Raahh · 05/07/2026 20:47

The interview between Naomi and Claire is quite funny- I do think Naomi has learned to take herself a lot less seriously- and her daughter has a lot to do with that. She is sweet when she talks about her daughter.

I switched to the Bencic match on the red bitton- I am so annoyed that 'hydration break' has become a thing.
It's a sit down, or a change of ends. It's not the bloody USA version of the World Cup (where they get the President to overturn red cards).

The score board of the Sinner vs Mochizuki match does not reflect the match. Mochizuki is one to look out for in the future

Yep agree. He's a little terrier, chases everything down. Crowd love him too.

Raahh · 05/07/2026 21:51

Grass is his favourite surface and he's a former Wimbledon Junior winner- it's rare that junior winners then become senior winners, though.

Well done Jannik- great effort from Shintaro

Well done Jannik. Didn’t see much because of the football.

kazzaD66 · 05/07/2026 22:50

Haven't seen any tennis today! Just looked at the Wimbledon app and can't believe Bencic and Gauff are still playing! There's only 10 minutes until the curfew!

kazzaD66 · 05/07/2026 23:00

I see Coco has just won before the curfew.

JaneJeffer · 05/07/2026 23:15

Well done Coco

EineReiseDurchDieZeit · 06/07/2026 08:48

Really looking forward to Centre Court today

Raahh · 06/07/2026 09:20

I have everything crossed for Jasmine and Grigor- it would be huge if Arthur won, but I think I'm remaining loyal to Grigor for that one!

I hope Cobolli can carry on his good form, and I will be rooting for Bublik against Fritz.

Joe and Leylah back in action in the mixed doubles - i really hope they get through that one.

@Raahh I think I will support Alexandra

Raahh · 06/07/2026 09:54

@EineReiseDurchDieZeit I like Eala, but I'm a big fan of Jasmine and she's not had the best year, so i would like to see this run continue( Alex has got a few years more to win thingsGrin.- not that Jasmine is exactly old!)

But Alex's win over Iga was impressive, even if Iga has been way below her best recently ( saw a very cute picture on twitter of Alex in her frilly socks as a little girl, as she mentioned in her post match interview).

Sounds like we're mostly supporting the same players Raahh. I'm a bit torn on Bublik vs Fritz. It would be fun to see Sasha get through for the chaos, but he's tended to go missing against the top players, whereas I trust Taylor to bring his best tennis when it matters. He's also played really well at Wimbledon over the years and I'd like to see him make a final here.
