Anyone else watching The Cure at the Isle of Wight tonight?

Anyone else watching the Cure at the Isle of wright?

I’ll admit I like the cure but aren’t a huge fan but do appreciate the tunes. It seems a very slow start for a festival gig and the crowd don’t seem to be moving much

maybe it’s the heat?

DH is.

I put my head round the door and it was Mint Car so I beat a hasty retreat.

He watched them live from somewhere in the Netherlands last night so it’s not like it’s going to be that much of a surprise tonight.

JacknDiane · 21/06/2026 23:03

What channel is it on

ExitPursuedByABare · 21/06/2026 23:04

SabrinaThwaite · 21/06/2026 23:05

OnTheBoardwalk · 21/06/2026 23:09

So a couple of tweaks I think. An hour in they’ve done in between days

i like the cure but not a huge fan, my mate has got me a ticket to Wythenshawe park. Was surprised by the number of guitar/bass things going on rather than singing

ah well at least I know what’s coming up

I saw them upstairs at the Railway in West Hampstead and, I think, the Nashville in West Ken

That’s always been their thing.

Have a fab time seeing them live.

Yeah and now I’ve got time to listen to these songs rather than a big tune only fan I’m happy

saying that the lovecats is on so I’m happy

Lovecats isn’t my thing but lots of people love it, so go wild :)

longtompot · 22/06/2026 00:20

I'm recording it. I saw them live in Manchester a few years ago and their sets do seem to be the same tracks. I have grown to enjoy them more, the more I watch them, and this is someone who was a teen goth back in the day, and actually enjoy their more instrumental tracks more now than their more popular tracks.

RockGirl · 22/06/2026 00:23

Yes I watched it. Barcelona last week has been their best gig so far in this tour. They’re in Cardiff next.

ThatAgileRosePanda · 22/06/2026 07:50

I was there - It was brilliant. Yes it wasn’t a packed out crowd and it was well behaved.
It was horribly hot earlier on, quite a few were leaving on Sunday due to the heat.

There about, maybe more like 1978 but who knows in the mists of time 🤷‍♀️

OnTheBoardwalk · 22/06/2026 11:54

@ThatAgileRosePanda glad you enjoyed it and survived the heat

I enjoyed the show I’m going to watch it a couple more times before I see them so I can appreciate the live show

I was there and I thought The Cure weren’t great, seemed to be a self indulgent set which definitely didn’t get the crowd going. My husband is a massive fan and even he said they weren’t right for the Sunday night headliner act. Didn’t spoil the weekend though, much fun was had by all. The Sex Pistols were brilliant and the whole crowd was stomping.

westcott · 22/06/2026 21:47

We have tickets for Cardiff. Been looking forward to it as haven’t seen them since I was young. But wondering if it will be cancelled because of the red weather warning.

OnTheBoardwalk · 22/06/2026 21:59

@DurhamDurham i’ve been watching some previous live shows, the Glastonbury set etc and yes I appreciate they are a goth band, but they did look more engaging in previous sets. I do get that the heat during the day might have had something to do with it

i’ve not been to Blackweir Fields but the only thing I can say from previous outdoor events is the lack of shade, It’s brutal

not sure what you can take in, like light umbrellas, but any kind of cover must be good

OP posts:
westcott · 22/06/2026 22:07

No umbrellas!! Hardly any water. As we will also have to train it there, it might be a no go. Just typical!

OnTheBoardwalk · 22/06/2026 22:10

Train, how far is it away from you? Could you go and then leave if it’s just too bad?
