Just started watching this after having read the book while ago.

And omg! What a tense first episode.

I have watched all the English language adaptations after reading most of his books and this one is starting very well 👏

Oh thanks, I was looking for something to watch!

scoobysnaxx · 18/06/2026 19:55

Love he’s series on netflix, will give this one a go!

BlondeFool · 18/06/2026 20:25

Just started. I really fancy Sam Worthington.

Meredusoleil · 18/06/2026 20:34

I was struggling with his accent at first, thinking it really didn't sound very American. Have just googled and seen he is actually Australian!

I binged it and thought it got sillier with each episode. Really gutted as love Harlan Coben and enjoyed the first episode but had to force myself to keep going with it to the end ☹️

Meredusoleil · 19/06/2026 05:38

Can i just add, as far as prisons go, this Briggs Penitentiary in Maine looks rather nice IMHO 🙃

I really enjoy most of Harlan Coben's books but the TV adaptations have disappointed me. His original ones, like The Five and Lazarus also seemed a bit flat.

I know this really has nothing to do with your post, but I have to write it as It's been on my mind for a few years.

I actually have sworn off his TV stuff until a Myron Bolitar series appears, if it ever does. I loved the Myron character and the balance of humour (sometimes probably a bit childish, but suited the very likeable character) and action which was in the early ones, plus "psycho-yuppie", Winn. Sadly, this seems to be lacking in the later ones in the series, or perhaps the market's taste has changed. I do wonder if he feels some moral obligation to occasionally write a Myron book, as the demand for them is there, but Coben seems to be sick of the character and seems to be trying to finish off the series and has left six and eight years between some entries.

Yes I have read the Mickey and Myron Bolitar books and enjoyed them too. He did make an adaptation of Shelter on Netflix.

Also, I googled the prison used in filming as I thought I'd seen it somewhere before. It was the same one as The Shawshank Redemption! It's not even in the USA - it's in Ontario, Canada 😲

Best one on Netflix is The Innocent, which is in Spanish i think.

furimosa · 19/06/2026 23:23

I thought it was a bit crap tbh.

DancingInTheMoonlights · 20/06/2026 20:53

I feel a bit disappointed by this tv adaptation, the British ones have been better but this American production just feels like something that would be on channel 5 or Alibi or Sky Witness. The acting is wooden and the screenplay feels really rubbish. Which is a shame as I was looking forward to it.

That’s where I’m at right now

I agree about the wooden acting. Mainly by the 2 central characters David and Rachel.

I watched it and it was nowhere near to the same standard of other Harlan Corbyn adaptations. Not sure if it was the story or the production. I managed to finish it but found it quite boring.

Meredusoleil · 20/06/2026 21:59

I'm just glad I watch with subtitles on as otherwise, I wouldn't have a clue what David (and sometimes Rachel) actually say. Their voices are so low, monotonous and almost mumbled. No feeling or expression at all!

Very disappointed, was looking forward to it as love his books but forced myself to watch till the end as was bored

pouletvous · Yesterday 09:19

This so far fetched 😂

The FBI are useless

deeahgwitch · Yesterday 10:37

I have watched 2 episodes.
You really have to suspend disbelief though probably stranger things have happened in real life.

pouletvous · Yesterday 11:36

I few plot holes aside from the obvious how was david not caught sooner 😂

martin…they could have just faked an adoption
the paynes…didnt they do a dna test
on matthew just to check?

why did cheryl have the sperm donor if she was already pregnant?

Cheryl didn't go through with the sperm donor as she discovered she was already pregnant. I think she just went for a meeting but didn't have the procedure?

Apparently Amazon have the rights to the Myron Bolitar series of books so Netflix can’t make any of those. Infuriating as I’d love to see those adapted

she did because they (clinic/paynes) would know that the appointment was cancelled and sperm unused

pouletvous · Yesterday 12:21

All the Harlan Coben dramas are totally far fetched. Remember that one with michelle keegan?

Oh! I haven't finished all episodes yet, but was trying to remember based on the book. Also, apparently she signed in under her sister Rachel's name?!?
