So the 'Who Killed Theo' saga carries on. I think we should find out who it is soon... Fit Kit and Swain are on the case still. (For what its worth!) 😆

Poor Sam has been sectioned, and is quite unwell, and has been diagnosed with schizophrenia.

Gary and Sarah are in cahoots about something, (related to Theo's death, I think.) Oh, and Maria thinks they're having an affair.

Some random lads are chasing and threatening Brodeh. Who knows why!

Ma Driscoll has been quiet for a while.

Will is still sneakily staying in touch with Megan Trainer!

Alya's cousin Idris (who has never been mentioned before AFAIK) has appeared on the street, and has been seeing Leanne.

Carl, Kevin, and dishy Ronnie have buried the hatchet (for now! Hopefully it lasts!)

And what is Jodie going to do with Carl's gun?!

Sorry if I've missed anything!

So far 4 of the characters have admitted to choking during sex. Summer admitted to it the other day. I wonder who will be next? Ken? Rita?

Perhaps there is something in the water!

They are always oversharing

I'm reading a book in which everyone in the world from age 22 onwards is given a box with a piece of string, the length of which determines how long they'll live (it's another one of those why TF did I think this sounded good). Anyway, in it a message from a long stringer is that he and his girlfriend had been keen to try asphyxiation and they gave it 10/10 would recommend, because the piece of string told them they wouldn't die.

I wonder if there will be anyone else in the book who will take similar stupid risks and live the length of their long string being fed through a tube, and the rest.

Every day there's something else that I become aware of that makes me wonder what, in the name of actual fuck, the world is coming to.

The Measure - I loved that book. Very thought-provoking. Would you open the box and find out whether your string was long or short? I still don’t know if I would.

dailychallenge · 22/07/2026 06:13

More prison scenes. Can’t wait.

That is vile. My 2 DD are in that age group/both around 30, and I feel full of horror that this may have happened to them. Maybe against their will too. Shock

I don't feel like I can ask either as it's deeply personal.

I'd be asking. You could save their life.

The height difference between Fit Kit and Sarah is ridiculous she looks like a borrower next to him

Haha.
my son is 6ft 4, his girlfriend is 5ft 3.
his previous g/f was just over 5ft.
See it quite a lot actually in couples.

I've got relatives, she is 4ft10 and he's 6ft2. They've been married for 46 years this year. I don't even think they look strange together, because I've only ever known them as a couple.

I have just ordered it! Should be here by Saturday... Looking forward to reading it. Smile Thanks for your thoughts about this book, those who have given them, and especially to @LesserSpottedCharacter who mentioned it in the first place. 😘

You are correct of course.

I'm not sure how yet, but I am going to find a way to shoehorn it into a conversation. I may even be able to do it without asking if they do it themselves. Thank you @12234m x

I know what you mean. I have an aunt who is 4 ft 11, and her husband (my uncle) is 6 ft 1. There is clearly a bit of a height difference, but as I have known them since I was born/very young, and they have always been in my life, they're just Auntie Sharon and Uncle Mike, I have never really noticed the height difference really. They're just Sharon and Mike.

Was everyone surprised that Ryan intimated he tried it too?

It's being normalised, even Ryan now.

'If so many people do it without anything bad happening then it must be ok if you're careful'.......'Betsy was just really unlucky'.

Not sure about any of this storyline.

Hmmm I dont like it either
Its usually in the context of P**n and coercive behaviour, they have missed the point here

SabreIsMyFave · 22/07/2026 12:17

Yes, Ryan too. It seems it is normal behaviour in the young. So glad I am an oldie!

Did he? I just thought he was admitting to doing stuff that could be seen as having a kink hmself( remember the on line stuff he did), not that he had done that especially.

eggandonion · 22/07/2026 12:41

I took it that Ryan had also done it which is scary that it is normalised.
I don't know how Sarah is going to be saved from prison.

Housewife2010 · 22/07/2026 12:44

Summer said a few days ago that she'd done it too.

Yeah, this is from DS. I didn’t link the whole article in case spoilers were in it but this is the relevant bit

”Despite his affiliation to the Connor-Swain clan, as Carla's nephew by marriage, Ryan sympathised with Dylan and suggested he never intended to hurt Betsy. Ryan then shared that he'd previously found himself in similar situations, admitting he had experimented with consensual strangulation himself”

Is everyone now going to admit they’ve tried it like someone said above?

FeltCarrot · 22/07/2026 14:27

I must be an old prude but when did Summer last have a boyfriend where she would be serious enough to try something like that. For that matter Betsy and Dylan have only been seeing each other a short period of time too or do all the young folk go straight to choking during sex from the first date? Dylan said it hadn’t happened before so they have done it more than once.

eggandonion · 22/07/2026 15:01

Summer had the really tall boyfriend who raped Amy. He was from diabetes club. Then a tall American with a Stanley Cup.
I think the diabetes club one would choke.

LesserSpottedCharacter · 22/07/2026 15:11

They had an opportunity last night to show Summer dosing herself for what she was about to eat but, as usual, there was nothing. It didn't need to be made a thing of, she could have done it as subtly as taking the plate from Todd. But no, because background essential for life stuff isn't important.

zanahoria · 22/07/2026 15:54

Summer's little monologue irked me a bit.

It seemed to portray strangling as cool and exciting and she was upset that people thought she was too boring to do it

Oh right, I must have missed that bit then.

Lorrymum · 22/07/2026 16:23

Sorry, but it's all too weird for me. When did teenage sex become so fraught with the apparent risk of asphixiation or a stroke?
Why on earth did Summer have to feel concerned that people felt she was too uncool not to have tried it. Corrie have simply added to the mystique of what is a sordid, unsafe practice.
