I did follow him on X because I liked his Strictly critiques for a while. But boy, does he hate everyone. I unfollowed.

I only got to know who John Nellis was after stumbling across an Erling Haaland football video collab, otherwise I wouldn't have known who he is if he is indeed in the line up.

I know he was always a total grump i used to think it was part of his "brand" but probably not i imagine the podcast will be "we can't say anything anymore " "bantz" and dropping in Woke every other sentence

His statement mentions his mental health and how he needs to get into a "healthier place"

I see Tabitha has a gymnastics background from her youth. Professional gymnasts tend to do well in Strictly, but I reckon she could be a dark horse type constestant.

Well hopefully his podcast reflects this and not just a manrant.

John Nellis has been confirmed as the latest contestant.

i haven’t heard of him but following a press report today I see he has 15 million subscribers to his You Tube channel and 2 million plus on TT.

How have I never heard of this guy if he’s so popular!?

Again, it's those who have a large SM following that regular TV viewers have no clue about. See also George Clarke, Pete Wicks and Joe Sugg.

I only heard about him very recently when a video of him and Erling Harland came up in my suggestions on YouTube.

Last year I had only heard of Alex Kingston. I am generally clueless as I don"t watch soaps or much reality TV, and only follow tennis. That's not meant to sound snobbish. I still enjoy complete strangers, though!

He said the name was familiar but when he looked him up , he said ohh yeah ...I do know of him

He does football stuff.

DS said he is 'big ' as in a loads of followers .
( I took it as big as in big build !!)

I would guess that John Nellis' followers are mostly football fans. He has done collabs with some footballers who most people will have heard of if they've watched the World Cup.

Even if you go on YouTube every day, unless you are watching football, which you probably don't have any interest in, then you probably won't have heard of him.

Never heard of him but just watched a video where he found a bloke John and took him to play ⚽ meet two players and have some scran and a football shirt. Nice bloke, nice N.irish(?) accent, nice beard.
So apart from the poor sod ending up with a football-themed routine and track, I could watch him.

Hope so! But I hope she doesn't just get flung about. I like her so I hope she does well.

Really hoping they've left a few in the bag who are better known. At the moment it feels like a non-celebrity version to me, a different show.

My DSs haven't heard of him at all. They aren't really into SM/ YouTube but they are both heavily into football. They are both in their early 20s but I am not sure either of them are very into this (their words) attention seeking form of watching/discussing football so I guess he wouldn't appeal.

I don't care if I have heard of most of the contestant. I have heard of Tabby because I watch Winter Olympics. But I am a bit bored of influencers - more so the Love Island types who make their whole career from shoving themselves in front of cameras. I find it vapid . That said, I really liked Tasha Ghouri. It seems a bit lazy of the BBC to use these types of celebs - and not unique to Strictly.

I’d say a casual interest in international football and I watch and very much enjoy Welcome To Wrexham and Ted Lasso so not a total lack of interest but yes my algorithm does know me well
