I'm sorry I've had to start this probably a little early as I'm not watching live tonight (got home very late from work).

This was my favourite series. The whole journey, the landscapes, the interesting cultures, the couples themselves. It will be hard to top this series. (I have seen them all including the celeb versions)

WeirdyBeardyMarrowBabyLady · 21/05/2026 22:56

Loved the series.

as an aside I can’t imagine how mad driving in Mongolia is where there’s no roads. It must be incredibly disorienting. I imagine I’d drive for 12 hours and find I’d ended up where I started from.

Whatabouterry · 21/05/2026 22:57

That just was such a wholesome watch- I loved it. I’m so glad the boys won. But honestly I’d have been happy with any them winning. What a brilliant adventure!

I loved each couple but I’m thrilled the boys won. 🩷

Me too.
I think the win, and the prize money, will make the biggest difference to the boys.

Mark & Margo wanted to build their own friendship - they did that
Molly wanted to prove to Daddy that she was a capable adult - she did that
Katie and Harrison - well, maybe Harrison will have learnt a bit about himself and how to accept that his way isn’t the only way.

This has been such a wonderful series. What a spectacular route they have travelled ( I have been googling Silk road holidays!). Such a great group of contestants, but I was beyond delighted that Kush and Jo won ❤
They are such delightful young men, when they were saying what they would do with their prize money for their families, it made me cry.
Utterly brilliant viewing.

XiCi · 21/05/2026 23:32

Such a lovely end to the series. So glad Margo and Mark finished. Really enjoyed the reunion show as well. They all seemed to genuinely like each other. Definitely my favourite series of RATW.

StrictlyCoffee · 21/05/2026 23:33

Yessss!

Just caught up. Absolutely delighted for
the boys. Just brilliant.

showmethegin · 21/05/2026 23:35

The only thing I missed was how Margo and mark made it? Was I topping up my glass? They only had $80 I think to make it to the final stop? Was that explained? May need to rewatch!

I feel completely the same!

MrsLargeEmbodied · 22/05/2026 04:40

that was a great series, agree, all lovely

MrsLargeEmbodied · 22/05/2026 04:58

watching the reunion its amazing how the camera crew dont get in any of the shots

Silverbirchleaf · 22/05/2026 05:45

The photography was amazing, and equally as important to the show as the race.

We said that. It feels like the are completely alone too. You forget that there is someone filming them. They showed a shot where one couple were looking at the map working out where to go and the camera was right in their faces, but it never felt like that.

BillericayDickie · 22/05/2026 08:04

sad that the siblings didn't win. but nice for the young men.
I was annoyed that they didn't show how margo and mark got there. makes me a bit hmm

I did wonder how they got there. Methinks there was a bit of assistance from the production crew. They couldn't have just left them in the middle of Mongolia.

sunflowersintheday · 22/05/2026 08:12

A really enjoyable series. Fantastic scenery and not too many sob stories.
Beautiful photography, and I liked all the couples.

I would have loved to have seen how Mark and Margo made the last part of their journey. I'm glad they made it to the final checkpoint, but I don't understand how they could afford to finish, especially with money left over.

sunflowersintheday · 22/05/2026 08:14

The best outcome was really for Mark and Margo.
Thank you, Julia. 🙏

Just quoting to say, love the use of the word ‘bagsied’ . Top marks!

NCTDN · 22/05/2026 08:24

I do so pleased that they all made it to the end. Delighted for the boys and for Liverpool😉 I know someone put early on that we didn’t know the boys backgrounds, but listening to how they are spending 10k gives you an idea. To say it will buy his mum a house so she never has to worry about where to live made me cry.

Haha thanks. Very common round here !!

PineappleSunrise · 22/05/2026 08:35

It’s been a great series, and I’m delighted for Jo & Kush. All the contestants have been so likeable. It was even good to see the cousins who’d been eliminated in the reunion episode - they were absolutely lovely, and I ended up feeling a bit sorry we’d not had the chance to see them racing the Central Asia legs with everyone else. There have definitely been early elimination teams I’ve not had that reaction to!

Great to see how much the experience has opened them all up and changed them, regardless of age and background.

I also liked that Jo is going to Senegal to trace his roots.
That would be a good tv show.

Daftypants · 22/05/2026 08:55

I LOVED this one , I’ve only actually watched the one where they start in Japan and then another one where they start in China ( a friend got me into watching them )
This latest season appealed to me even more and I can’t explain why ?
I really like Katie and Margo .
Margo is / has been actively engaging with so many on Facebook and I genuinely like her .
Thanks to Katie 😆 I now want to go to Cappadoccia 😍
I also found the Silk Road intriguing
