Mine recently was Project hail Mary. Fantastic film. I went to keep ds2 company as he fancied it. It's long but I was engrossed.

I'm sure there's a series too but I can't think atm.

Babies on BBC. I thought the acting was brilliant. I really wanted to talk about it after but I don’t know anyone else that has watched it!

OneLimeDuck · 09/05/2026 17:38

When my daughters were younger In The Night Garden.

I now have an addiction.

They of course no longer watch it being too old (8 and 10) but if I see it on the channel guide I can't help but look.

I mean whilst this show exists why would anyone need to take mind altering drugs.

I used to think that about the Magic Roundabout. Dylan was always stoned 🤣

@getearnow I'll check that out.

I might give that a go. Me and dh are looking for a series to watch. Just rewatching game of thrones and it's series 8.

Landman

Agree. DP put it on and I thought it was going to be dull and Not My Thing.

I bloody LOVED it. See also Tulsa King and The Boys. (Except season 5 which is shite).

I am also enjoying Peaky Blinders (bit late to the party, never watched it as I thought I wouldn’t like it but I really do.

FazeleysRoyale · 09/05/2026 18:45

Call the Midwife.

I’ve read the book but I didn’t watch it at all as it didn’t appeal. I’m now watching it every evening on i -player and thoroughly enjoying it. I’m on season 4.

I might give Downton Abbey a go. Never watched it. I’m often really late with these things ( about a decade ! )

Pepperedpickles · 09/05/2026 18:46

House of the dragon. I’m not a fantasy person at all but somehow got sucked into it. It’s amazing.

elm26 · 09/05/2026 18:50

Not a fantasy/dragons fan at all but LOVED Game of Thrones. Also, not a period drama fan but also loved Downton Abbey!

@getearnow- I watched it and loved it.

SleepQuest33 · 09/05/2026 18:55

Im not a fan of violent films but lived the 2 Kill Bill films.

sunnydisaster · 09/05/2026 18:56

Poldark. Wasn’t interested when it came out but my adult son got me in to it & we completely binged it (and enjoyed talking to each other in the dialect).

Lampzade · 09/05/2026 18:56

Traitors

mumofoneAloneandwell · 09/05/2026 18:58

Game of Thrones (bar the last two seasons)

EveryKneeShallBow · 09/05/2026 20:19

Very old now but Car Share. Never liked Peter Kay, but this series was the only tv show that helped me through a traumatic bereavement when I couldn’t face anything else.

Me too. They're quite funny though.

I met someone recently and said to dh her voice is exactly like someone. It was Kayleigh.

Car share was brilliant and I’m also not a big fan of Peter Kay.

GOT is an excellent example, I tried to watch the first episode three times before I got into it.

My DH has told me to watch Landman, he said I’ll like it but it doesn’t really look like my sort of thing!

I thought Better Call Saul would be boring but I was very wrong.

hby9628 · 09/05/2026 21:06

Landman is excellent. I miss it.

user2848502016 · 09/05/2026 21:07

Game of Thrones- not my usual thing but DH persuaded me and I became a bit obsessed!

cariadlet · 09/05/2026 21:10

Traitors for me. I thought it sounded boring and I was put off by how often trailers for it were being shown.
Caught a couple of episodes of the celebrity series, then watched all of the last series and loved it. It was also nice to have something to chat about at work.

MissDixieVoom · 09/05/2026 21:14

Celebrity traitors. Not usually my sort of thing, but I loved it.

Grghf · 09/05/2026 21:15
