ITV's Believe Me follows the harrowing true story of the victims of black cab rapist John Worboys

In total there are four episodes in the series.
You can watch the first episode of Believe Me on Sunday, May 10, on ITV1 and ITV (https://www.walesonline.co.uk/all-about/itv) X from 9pm.

The second episode will then air the following day on Monday, May 11.

The third episode and fourth episodes will then air the following week on Sunday, May 17, and Monday, May 18.

ITV is set to air a harrowing major new drama following the true story of how the victims of one of the most prolific sex attackers in British history were failed by the system.

Believe Me tells the story of black cab rapist John Worboys who preyed on women who trusted him as a licensed taxi driver.

When they would get in the back of his cab in the 2000s he would drug and sexually assault them.

He was convicted in 2009 for crimes including sexual assault and drugging with intent against 12 women between 2006 and 2008, with their cases selected from a large number of suspected further victims.

The series follows the stories of victims Sarah (Aimée-Ffion Edwards) and Laila (Aasiya Shah) who reported the sexual assaults and were failed by the Metropolitan Police who didn't thoroughly investigate the allegations.

We later see the women fight to keep their attacker in jail years after he was convicted for his crimes.

But my point is he was handing out drinks!

Fernhurst · 12/05/2026 19:03

I'm watching the second episode. The police are being so awful to the student. I was reading that Warboys was aggressive if they tried to turn down the drink until they gave in. It probably doesn't help that girls are conditioned to be nice and shamed if they try and stand firm. Called a Karen and various other worse names

Fernhurst · 12/05/2026 19:04

And yes, he forced a pill into one of their mouths

I think they go by the cctv at campus and see him drop her off

Ahhh, thank you @Blondeshavemorefun x

PrettyLittleRose · 12/05/2026 20:37

It made my blood run cold when he said to the one young woman 'I won't let you get out of the cab unless you drink this!' 😱 (In episode 2.)

I agree. Chilling.

Fernhurst · 12/05/2026 21:19

I assume in a black cab they can lock you in. Scary

I like Daniel Mays as well Blonde. I think the first time he was on my radar was in Line of Duty. He’s good in comedy as well, like Code 404.
My DD and I remember watching a documentary about Worboys a couple of years ago, but I’m looking forward to seeing this drama.

I remember seeing him in the Mike Leigh film Vera Drake which was excellent.

@Blondeshavemorefun he is so sleazy and the doc says he made ‘porn’ films in a flat in my home town ! I feel the need for a shower, it’s really worth watching to get some background

It says on wiki he worked as a stripper. Weird.
His wife left him as he sexually assaulted her daughter 🙁

He is disgusting. i posted a link to the YouTube documentary earlier, it goes over his stripping 'career' that was another situation where he could be in easy contact with inebriated women, such a predator

They had a discussion about this on Loose Women today. They couldnt do it without Coleen bringing up false accusations

about the programme Believe which is currently being broadcast on ITV 1 which is what this thread is about

So the risk of fare dodging is judged to be worse than women’s safety?!

Oh well, I guess we'll never know what that poster was talking about. Maybe they were trying to be mysterious or something?

Seems so.

SqueakyFromme · 10/05/2026 13:56

@Netcurtainnelly but there have been countless films, series and documentaries produced about serial killers, rapists, all the heinous criminals. Crime is a huge percentage of content in broadcasting.

That's sad. Don't people want happiness in their life? They put things on like this at prime time and ask the advertiser's for lots of money.
It's making entertainment out of misery.

A documentary would be better. It would be good to see how the women are getting on now and how things have changed but they wouldn't do that. It's about making a drama and selling advertising space.
