Hooray!

This is back for another series, starting Thursday.

I just googled very quickly and they set off from Sicily and end the race in northern Mongolia - sounds interesting.

I don't know anything else about it at this point, but thought that we should have a thread ready and waiting.

I don't understand how Margo & Mark got so behind

After their home stay they had to backtrack to where they'd been 24 hours earlier to get transport.

Anybody else feeling really teary eyed watching this episode? From the food sharing, the frozen dong collecting first thing in the morning, the throat singing, the dancing in the community centre… It’s all so untouched by consumerism and technology. People are too busy surviving + belonging, no time for mental health issues and weight loss jabs.

If you end up losing everything you just need a one way ticket to Mongolia, disappear and live off the landscape. That would be truly life confirming.

@greyweek

Yes, I may have had something in my eye too! I thought it was a very uplifting episode and I agree about the lovely simplicity of the way of life there.

I must have missed the "frozen dong collecting" bit! (yes, I realise that it's just a typo but it made me laugh).

Just caught up with Mongolia. Unlike other posters, I have no desire to go there . Too rural and cold, although I get the simplicity of life reasoning.

Really enjoyed the boys this week, and their enthusiasm. They’ve really grown throughout the competition, and are embracing both the race element and experience elements well.

For me, the only one that hasn’t ‘grown’ is Harrison. He’s still the same, dour person he was at the beginning. This weeks episode made me wonder if he’s actually enjoying the trip. Katy is embracing everything and he’s tagging along.

Felt sorry for Mark and Margo. One if the only times we’ve seen Margo dispirited. Hope they get to finish the race.

Molly and Andrew have also grown. They have such a lovely relationship. (Still no mention of the mum). They’re embracing the trip as well. I think it took them a while to do this.

No, I think Harrison has grown as Katie said something about the map how Harrison would have had a meltdown about losing it or something at the start.

But I too have no desire to go to Mongolia. The people and the experiences were touching but, no doubt, carefully researched. I suspect there's loads of alcoholism in communities like that.
