Hooray!

This is back for another series, starting Thursday.

I just googled very quickly and they set off from Sicily and end the race in northern Mongolia - sounds interesting.

I don't know anything else about it at this point, but thought that we should have a thread ready and waiting.

I think Andrew gave a good explanation as to why he's so protective of Molly. He grew up during the troubles in Belfast which would seriously rock your foundations and sense of security and safety. I have friends and colleagues from Belfast which are similar age to Andrew and it has most definitely left its mark. Is Molly an only child? I can't remember. She was obviously raised well to be so happy, confident and secure in her relationship with her Dad.

Edited

Im a similar age and grew up in Belfast. It didn’t make its mark on me or any of my friends as we didn’t know any different. I took what he said with a pinch of salt, especially as he doesn’t have a Belfast accent. I’m not sure where he lives, but his accent is not a Belfast accent, sounds like north Antrim. It was a good story for the programme though. To be fair, they’re the couple I’ve least warmed to.

Don’t you just love her. Love her energy.

She makes me cringe the way she barges in. The dancing and singing on the train was so awful it made my whole body clench. I'm about her age and know I would really dislike her in real life, she's so loud and brash.

Thequeenofwishfulthinking · 08/05/2026 02:40

Regardless of the historic troubles in Northern Ireland. I find Andrew's struggle with Molly 'growing up' unusual.
As a PP said shes not a teenager.and apparently has a demanding, responsible career.
I think Molly is very patient with him.
Im wondering if hes been a lone parent for part of or the majority of her upbringing?
I do think she needs to stop calling him Daddy. I know the Irish use this term frequently but when shes questioning his inability to let go a bit, referring to him as Daddy constantly isnt helping matters imo.
Shes a lovely girl but quite young for her age.

MrsLargeEmbodied · 08/05/2026 04:35

we found that episode quite annoying.
cant relate to the boys i guess but they hardly did any picking up of walnuts and couldnt understand why kush was so upset they were very lucky with the help they got

MrsWhites · 08/05/2026 07:07

Great episode. Still rooting for the boys, their friendship is so wonderful and they are doing so well for such a young age.

Recklessismymiddlename · 08/05/2026 07:22

Currently I’m rooting for the siblings.
then molly and her dad
then in laws
then the boys.

However I like all of them so I don’t really mind who wins. Think money wise will make the most difference for the siblings and the boys. But then Molly may have a student loan to pay off!

I agree, it was embarrassing. Those women looked at her as if she was nuts. I'll bet they had to work hard off screen to get the women singing.

JustPlainStanfreyPock · 08/05/2026 08:23

Unlurking to say that I'm really warming to Katie, she seems to take everything in her stride, apart from sprinting of course, and is very droll with some of her comments to Harrison.

The amount of meat Joe put away (?on the rest day) was hilarious, I'd forgotten how young lads can eat pretty much their body weight in one sitting. Kush is lucky to have such a good kind friend.

That was utterly excruciating! Who on earth invites a bunch of foreign strangers on a train - in their country - to have a "sing song" 🥴

Recklessismymiddlename · 08/05/2026 09:10

I wonder if Margo will have been told by producers what to do? Do that I mean. No sensible person would do that surely?

TessTickle0 · 08/05/2026 10:05

Loved the boys dancing at the taxi.
Thought it hilarious how one minute all the woman are looking clueless and downright annoyed at margo, then next they are all dancing, clapping and singing.
Don't know what production did but it worked
Harrison and katy or how and kush to win for me

VividDeer · 08/05/2026 10:27

Isn't joe an absolute star
What a lovely young man.

It can't be easy dealing with someone else's anxiety. He shows such maturity

But that's what many Irish people (adults included) refer to their parents as, "Daddy/Mammy" so she wouldn't see it as strange. You don't see it in Dublin but definitely in more rural parts of the country

Or do you think she should be referring to him by his first name? I as a 50 year old woman still call my parents Mum/Dad

purpleme12 · 08/05/2026 11:09

I think some people on here can't get their heads around it being normal for people in Ireland to them mammy or daddy.
I've seen it on other threads too

greyweek · 08/05/2026 11:32

Ok, I’m a bit annoyed now I’ve started watching the series before they uploaded all the episodes. I need to binge watch it all.

purpleme12 · 08/05/2026 11:34

They never release all the episodes for RATW in advance

EachandEveryone · 08/05/2026 15:42

kush need some professional help doesn’t he? He’s not going to beable to rely on his friend forever.

That's what I thought- it looked very staged and even Margo didn't look all that comfortable.
Can anyone explain how Katie and Harrison ended up so far behind? I remember a traffic jam at one point but after that? Did I miss something?

NCTDN · 08/05/2026 19:14

Margo and mark were also in that traffic jam.

I wondered if there was quite a bit cut- it looked as though they were all in different places (with Molly and Andrew nowhere near), but then suddenly all in the checkpoint city except K&H

MrsLargeEmbodied · 08/05/2026 19:27

yes i think the editing went a bit haywire

NeedAnyHelpWithThatPaperBag · 08/05/2026 20:43

I might be a bit behind, but the episode where poor Kush was so visibly upset about his dad and the camera relentlessly stayed on him was very distasteful and had me shouting at the TV.

Treylime · 08/05/2026 22:19

I would guess that Molly lives at home still. So she may be studying/training to be a doctor but to her Dad shes still his young child living at home.

I thought the same. They should have cut that shot a lot sooner.

Villanousvillans · 08/05/2026 22:29

I really like all of them and would be happy for any team to win. However I have a real soft spot for Jo and Kush. Their friendship is a joy to see.
