Hooray!

This is back for another series, starting Thursday.

I just googled very quickly and they set off from Sicily and end the race in northern Mongolia - sounds interesting.

I don't know anything else about it at this point, but thought that we should have a thread ready and waiting.

Maybe it is 5 different buses or trains or taxi or lift. So they can't just stay on one bus that does the whole route.

I wonder if they are also obliged to do either a trip or work every leg, so there's something interesting to film, and those who take interesting detours aren't disadvantaged by being slower than everyone else.

It wasn’t, I’m sure they were specific about having to use different types of transport in the interview. So in some series they’ve used rickshaws and bicycles as well as taxis, boats, buses and trains.

I need to google all the winners later, to remind myself who they were (it was a married couple who said they have since gone on to do similar travelling since the show), then I can name the series!

That was series 1

It comes up if you search too.

I searched and found that, but it's in the AI scrape that appears first, so it could have come from anywhere (even the mention of it on this thread!).

Just had a quick watch of Series 1, Episode 3 for an example.

Josh and Felix: Taxi, Boat, Train, Minibus
Natalie and Shemima: Taxi, Boat, Private Car, Train
Tony and Elaine: Taxi, Boat, Train
Darren and Alex: Taxi, Boat, Train

I think they all took five separate journeys along the way, so I think that's what was meant.

I read it in an interview with the winners in Good Housekeeping magazine recently - I posted this in my original post. I just did a quick google in case there was reference online after being told that it would be ‘impossible’.

From memory they said something like they were told they’d used x mode of transport so they’d have to use a different one etc.

I wonder if it was Viv and Stephen? I follow them on Instagram and they travel a good bit - not often on a budget though.

BoxingHare · 07/05/2026 19:57

Are we reaaaaaady????

EineReiseDurchDieZeit · 07/05/2026 19:59

Here!

jay55 · 07/05/2026 20:00

Evening. I missed last week. Who is winning?

EineReiseDurchDieZeit · 07/05/2026 20:04

Katie and Harrison.

That Dad needs to stop boring on about the same thing

SwedishEdith · 07/05/2026 20:04

Didn't realise the budgets were so close for three of the teams - means the lads are still in the race. Nice idea to let the oldies and the kids separate for socialising a bit.

Steelworks · 07/05/2026 20:05

I think Mark and Andrew/Ian (both names given above fur Molly’s dad) really getting on well together. It’s nice to see the youngsters relaxing together as well.

SwedishEdith · 07/05/2026 20:08

I love the way football is always that international language.

Yes

CaptainMyCaptain · 07/05/2026 20:11

They just called Molly's Dad Andrew.

EineReiseDurchDieZeit · 07/05/2026 20:12

My TV just switched itself off! I don’t know what I missed. Curses!

littlbrowndog · 07/05/2026 20:16

Today is Thursday. Take care everyone

jay55 · 07/05/2026 20:16

I’ve never heard of popular days for conception. I’m massively intrigued

SwedishEdith · 07/05/2026 20:18

Didn't they go to Tashkent in series 1?

littlbrowndog · 07/05/2026 20:19

Aw that woman. So kind to the boys

littlbrowndog · 07/05/2026 20:19

Naima

littlbrowndog · 07/05/2026 20:22

That must be a ladies only compartment

Steelworks · 07/05/2026 20:23

I noticed that.

SwedishEdith · 07/05/2026 20:23

Mark is elsewhere, cringing himself inside out.

Halsall · 07/05/2026 20:24

Trust Margo to get them dancing in the aisles!
