Hooray!

This is back for another series, starting Thursday.

I just googled very quickly and they set off from Sicily and end the race in northern Mongolia - sounds interesting.

I don't know anything else about it at this point, but thought that we should have a thread ready and waiting.

Great episode so many lovely places, not too much drama.
Don't like the idea of anyone going next week seems very soon plus it was mentioned in preview so they know it happening - did the others know it was elimination previous years ?
Feel the boat family experience was very good for the lads so would be pity if it got them knocked out.
Other then them based on what it showed could be Margo.
Nice lots of them engaging with people it helps, nice the bro & sis got to spend some time with the cousins on the day off was worried if they so far ahead often it would be lonely not getting to interact with other contestants .
Wonder where they will be next week presume avoiding Russia maybe they will end up getting a flight presumably Iran not a place they would go via either

purpleme12 · 09/04/2026 22:23

It does seem really soon doesn't it

AlcoholicAntibiotic · 09/04/2026 22:25

I thought it seemed a bit soon but Wikipedia tells me elimination is usually after the third leg (and actually in the first series it was after the second leg). So it’s in line with that.

purpleme12 · 09/04/2026 22:26

It is sad there has to be one though

GreatName · 09/04/2026 23:52

Loved tonight's episode. The world is so beautiful 😻 This season is definitely less sob story heavy and I'm so glad. We get to enjoy watching their travels.

Lincslady53 · 10/04/2026 07:31

Loved tonight's episode, but why did John Hannah pronounce Turkiye the way he did? In English it is Turkey. We don't call Spain, Espana, or Greece, Hellas, we call them by their Englisf name, so why the special treatment for some cities and countries, and not others?

Hmmm, Harrison's incessant focus on the money is getting a wee bit grating 🤔

I'm guessing they grew up in care from what they said last week. I'm not surprised he wants to keep his life under control.

He explained it. Turkey has changed its name to Türkiye in a ‘rebrand’.

Piggywaspushed · 10/04/2026 07:49

Because Turkey has changed its actual country name to Turkiye (it was actually explained in the voiceover) in 2022. It's similar to Mumbai and Beijing. Or indeed Constantinople ...

ETA - it's now the name used by the UN.

I agree. We learn enough, which is nice.

Yes, I think that's understandable. Control and organisation against chaos.

MonstrousRegimentRocks · 10/04/2026 07:54

I like Jo and Kush. Kush was reflecting on learning how to be a young man, growing up without a dad. They're both lovely.
It was a touching scene with Mark talking to Nomi in the car, her mother and his wife dying, but it wasn't over done.

Squirrelchops1 · 10/04/2026 08:09

So far they've been everywhere I love and I kept saying to DH we must see more of Greece. I've always fancied Instanbul and must make an effort once things quiet down in the ME.

Recklessismymiddlename · 10/04/2026 08:10

Istanbul is fantastic. Been a few times now, but last time was before covid.

MonstrousRegimentRocks · 10/04/2026 08:11

The scenery is fantastic, isn't it? What a beautiful part of the world.

CaptainMyCaptain · 10/04/2026 08:12

I want either the boys or the brother and sister to win. I hope the boys catch up and don't get eliminated. I could happily lose any of the other three next week. I don't dislike them but just don't care about them - the Dad and the brother in law are quite annoying and come across as know-alls.

Piggywaspushed · 10/04/2026 08:24

I think I'm an outlier in not being that keen on the boys (or Kush, mainly). But the editing suggests they will go the whole way. I suspect the cousins will go and I like them. But, generally, they all seem a good bunch.

Wasn't that Joe?

MonstrousRegimentRocks · 10/04/2026 08:28

I know there have been negative remarks about Margo, but I thought she was lovely on this leg of the trip, really showed interest in her surroundings and the people. She seemed really nice.

MonstrousRegimentRocks · 10/04/2026 08:28

The next leg is going to be exciting!

Twirlywirly25 · 10/04/2026 08:30

I always wondered if part of the reason for the eliminations is that the BBC have to pay for Visas for the remaining countries which might be expensive.

I think it's more about creating excitement and ratching up the competitive side!

Me too. It struck me last night that the 2 older blokes would have a much better time together, theyre very similar and the 2 women would probably enjoy it more with each other as well.

Rocketpants50 · 10/04/2026 08:35

Wonder why they get rid of one couple after 3rd episode? I wonder if its going to be the father/ daughter as I feel we have hardly seen them in comparison to others.

They must have so much footage I would like 2 episodes a week for each leg so we get to see more of where they have been. I want to go to Greece now!

Kush was a school friend of my DD and she said he’s the nicest boy you could ever wish to meet. Which is high praise from DD as she didn’t often have a good word to say about the boys in her class!

I love Katie and Harrison. I love their bond. I’m really torn between who I want to win.
