There are interviews and articles all over the Internet where her stylist or hairdresser detail exactly which products are used to achieve that impossible shine.

Can’t comment beyond that as I’ve never found myself in her dressing room. 🤷‍♀️

Head and Shoulders, we're meant to believe...🤔🤔

HandbagsAndHighHeels · 14/03/2026 13:13

Head and Shoulders is good for shifting chlorine or sea water… and hair colour if it’s ‘gone wrong’
Ask me how I know😀

I quite enjoyed it, although not a big fan of the guests. I thought she was a bit nervous but that just shows she’s human, give her a chance ffs. I hope she settles into it

I find it astonishing how much women don’t like it when people comment on their appearance but then tear into other women’s. Criticising her hair is just being bitchy, she can wear her hair any which way she likes!

See I actually LIKE her hair and style. The problem was that it was distracting away from what they were talking about. Her hair was actually more interesting than the guests which is part of the problem!

TheFarriersDaughter · 14/03/2026 13:34

I didn’t mean the adverts!

Lampzade · 14/03/2026 13:52

Graham Norton is in a league of his own . He makes even the most uptight guest seem relaxed aided by a few glasses of booze

JemimaTab · 14/03/2026 14:15

This reminds me that there have been lots of attempts at chat shows over the years which have not succeeded (e.g. Davina). It’s much harder than it looks to get it right, and Graham makes it look easy - which it obviously isn’t. There are so many variables to a chat show - getting the right guests (and the right mix), chemistry with the host and between the guests, being able to “manage” the guests (don’t let the bores hog things), keeping things going when there’s a lull, coping with awkwardness, getting the tone right, keeping things light, etc. It only needs one of those things to be a bit off and the whole thing doesn’t work. Random quirkiness is particularly difficult to get right IMO - a little goes a long way, but it still needs to be amusing rather than just a bit odd.
I do find Claudia very arch so she’s not really my cup of tea, but I’m also not sure this format is playing to her strengths. I also think possibly the slot is not the right one - it’s the big Friday night slot (Graham’s slot - which also invites the comparison), and it might have been better starting it off somewhere else.
That said, Claudia is one of the big BBC stars and so I’m sure they will put every effort into making it work. So we’ll see.

Pinkfluffypencilcase · 14/03/2026 14:52

Graham is very good at getting the best out of his guests and dealing with the awkwardness.

No one else is up there imo.

I like Claudia but I think her skill is with the public. She’s fab on the piano.

😂 Yeah, the guests were pretty dry.

SwedishEdith · 14/03/2026 16:20

So true about how skilled you need to be to make this look easy. I've seen criticism of Alex Jones when she's stood in for Matt Tebbutt on Saturday Kitchen. As though, because she's not a chef, she has no right to be there. But she makes the whole thing running smoothly look effortlessl. She's unflustered, doesn't take herself seriously and doesn't make it about herself. And that's live TV.

likelysuspect · 14/03/2026 16:21

Im the only one who liked this it seemed, I didnt think the guests were dull or her, I thought it was funny and witty and liked the eccentricity of pencils and eggs and Wolverhampton.

No one, and I mean no one, can do live TV as well as Claudia.

TheFarriersDaughter · 14/03/2026 16:57

I’m 10 minutes in - and wondering why on earth it had to have the same format as the Graham Norton show. And why they didn’t have a wider age range amongst the guests. It’s all so bland. I can understand having one ‘safe’ person but four is too much - there’s no grit, or risk, whatsoever.

Except from Trudy - who’s looking daggers at everyone who speaks to her.

GellerYeller · 14/03/2026 19:17

Credit where it’s due, it’s a TV first: no chat show in history has opened with ‘and now over to the woman who designed the sofas’ 😂

ConstantlyFuriosa · 14/03/2026 21:05

I like Claudia but it was dull.

As to the impossibly shiny and thick hair - how, how can it be so thick at her age?! (My age.) Just how?

And if, as lots of people say, head and shoulders gets rid of hai4 colour, she can’t possibly use it because her real hair colour is much lighter. So dyeing it and using H&S would be counterproductive.

I know we shouldn’t be making this all about her appearance, but her hair fascinates me! If it’s real, I’m so jealous. See also Demi Moore and her long, black, shiny mane.

GellerYeller · 14/03/2026 21:36

Surely Demi has extensions- even if only for volume? Lots of actresses use wigs when filming to save their own hair. SJP has been open about hers.

ConstantlyFuriosa · 14/03/2026 21:48

It may be extensions. But then you Google ‘Demi Moore’s Hair’ and there are these stylists professing it’s all real. It definitely looks thinner on top but still. It’s beautiful.

MyNextDoorNeighbourVotesReform · 14/03/2026 21:55

I feel as though I should like CW, generally, but I always find her ditzy breathy rather self deprecating persona grates on me. I didn't watch her talk show but I've seen clips on tiktok and I wasn't impressed

Pryceosh1987 · 14/03/2026 23:45

Do what makes you happy and is safe.

IberianLynx · 15/03/2026 05:08

Unfortunately most of the guests managed to be both dull and annoying! Interviewing people in long form can be an awkward experience anyway, you need a host that is not an awkward type themselves, otherwise it is not a nice experience to witness. I think that is why Americans are more into chat shows, being more outgoing and not experiencing the inward cringe that we do. But I suppose people like Wogan and Jonathan Ross pulled it off.

I actually love CW on the traitors but hate the wrap up show where she is on stage with the contestants. Again, it is an awkward watch. Unless there is an unmissable guest on, I won’t watch her chat show in the future.

Choux · 15/03/2026 12:58

A BBC article is going to be less objective reviewing a BBC chat show than other sources. They have bought the show - they are doing damage limitation!

Binglebong · 15/03/2026 13:31

I love CW and wanted it be brilliant. Instead I turned off half way, I was just cringing. I'll try it again to see if it settles.

If you want a funny review try the Guardian one. Hilariously not a fan.

Edited for typo.

Boolabus · 15/03/2026 20:01

I didn't see it and disappointed to see it didn't seem to hit the mark because I like Claudia.
After reading some of the comments I'm wondering whether she'd be better suited to a show like the Tommy Tiernan show on Irish TV. He interviews a mix of celebs and ordinary people with something interesting about them. The twist is he does not know who he is coming on until they walk on stage. If it's an ordinary person he starts chatting until he can figure out why they might be there. The celebs that come on are there to chat they are not plugging anything. When it first started it was mainly Irish guests but I've noticed recently more UK celebs have been on maybe they've seen the format and like it.

Do you think this would work for Claudia? I'm surprised no UK channel have bought the format. I've heard they don't think anyone would do it because the host is completely exposed with no research on the guest or preprepared questions or even a clue half the time who the person is.

Codyrhodesisaheel · 15/03/2026 20:24

I think that would work @Boolabus

As someone else said, Claudia rules when she's in charge of utter chaos (e.g. the clauditorium). But to be in charge of people where there's NO chaos means that she's just "there"

I really REALLY wanted to like it, hence my first post. But as it went on it was like "woohoo, can't wait....love these guests....ooh this looks nice....wait, whats happening?.....why is there a dog.....why are they talking about pencils?....god this is awkward.....yeah I'm going to bed now...."

I'll give it a few shows to see how it improves. But it's weird how the critics' reactions have been positive-mixed, yet the overwhelming reaction I've seen on here, on digital spy, on reddit and on social has been unanimous that it was 'a bit crap'

MargotMoon · 15/03/2026 21:39

@Boolabusthe Tommy Tiernan show sounds great! Wish they showed that in the UK
