I don't think so. I thought he was from Keeping Up Appearances but I've just looked at the cast list and it isn't. His name is Tony Gardner (real name).

There's some history here and a back story it seems regarding Gillian's husband. Sounds like he died after an accident.

Caroline is being amenable and making a lot of excuses for her ex husband.

She changes her mind and decides to throw caution to the wind and meet Alan.

Nice house!!

No wonder Gillian freaked out over her son's accident if that's how her husband died.

Caroline's husband John moves back into the family home. How nice and easy for him. Probably not so easy for Caroline.
