I’m by no means saying Lucinda is perfect or she’s the type of person I’d get along with irl but this whole thing is a great study in how group bullying happens.
I’ve read multiple comments on social media about how “they (islanders) can’t all be wrong about Lucinda” the truth is they can be since toxicity spreads.
We see this in schools and the workplace, as well as reality tv. When one person is singled out by one or two popular people soon others start to side with the bullies rather than the bullied. It’s a horrible pack mentality that can take place among groups consisting of too many individuals with weak morals and principles. Scott is in general questionable and I’m not a fan, but I’ve noticed he doesn’t really attack Lucinda as much as say Ciaran or Tommy.
I think because he’s more of an independent thinker he finds it easier not to get swept up in group sentiments. He has no issue with Jessy but yet he was one of the few who questioned why she was getting involved with Lucinda the other night.
When you get the kind brave souls that come into a bullying situation and stand up for the victim, it creates real ripples because you’re challenging the accepted status quo and forcing everyone to take a closer look at themselves. People usually deny it because the alternative is to admit to themselves how awful they’ve been.
It’s why Belle couldn’t stand to listen to Lucinda telling her how awful she’d been to her.
