SPOILERS BRIDGERTON SEASON 4 - Benedict’s story

IWantToHibernate · 28/01/2026 16:55

I couldn’t see a thread so thought I would start one.

The first 4 episodes drop on Netflix tomorrow (29th Jan). We will then need to wait until 26th February for the other 4.

We all know it’s not a realistic period drama but it’s great escapism and I’m looking forward to binging the first 4 eps.

Also nice to see a different side to a heartbroken Benedict - I felt so sorry for him verging on tears at the end of episode 6 and throughout 7.

The heart to heart they had in the conservatory was very sweet as well, especially how upfront he was with Sophie about his bisexuality, her response to hearing it, his response to that! So sweet! I hope they both come back next season!

I haven’t watched the earlier series but am loving season 4.

Love that, now you need to go and watch from Season 1

FiloPasty · 27/02/2026 14:45

I don’t get what mid credits scene means?

I also loved Hyacinth and Gregory’s mini ball, v cute. Nice to see Cressida have a redemption arc too.

I think next Season will be Eloise’s there’s been a lot of set up of her being open to love. In the books she’s before Francesca too.

I thought the actress who plays Francesca did such a fantastic job, the grief was so apparent and the scenes very moving.

Loved it! What to watch now?

Once the episode finishes you then get the end credits which is the names of all the actors/production crew etc.
A mid credits scene is when during these credits it stops and you get another bit of the episode, then it returns to the production names.

I read the first 2 books on our half-term holiday and loved them. I have An Offer from a Gentleman and romancing Mr Bridgerton ready to go on.my Kobo. I think I'll read them after each series (Pen and Colin were out of order for the books).
They are fabulous escapism.
I haven't watched the second half of Bendicts story yet but I loved the first 4.
Catch up soon

Figgygal · 27/02/2026 16:58

Watched all 4 today and loved the central story but bit too much faffing elsewhere
Really wanted Araminta to get her comeuppance she was vile
The actress who plays Kate is beautiful and has amazing posture.
Almost missed the credit scene too .....
Sneaky

mogtheexcellent · 27/02/2026 16:59

I enjoyed it but they skipped some of the best lines from the book where Violet shuts down Araminta. Plus it takes place in the prison.

I couldnt undertand the Mrs Mondrich lady in waiting part until the last episode where she tells the Queen she is magnificent. Hyacinth is hilarious wanting lemonade. In the books she is out for a couple of seasons before she meets Gareth so I suspect she will be presented next series. And Lady Danbury is Gareths grandmother so she features a lot in that story.

Eloise next season, I hope, as Fran needs time to grieve. Plus it will mean scenes at My Cottage which is close to the Crane residence.

Yes to Varley being the new Lady Whistledown! She would ace it.

Sorry if I'm asking a stupid question as I haven't read the books...

But a few people have been querying when it will be Francesca's season, but I thought the issues around Francesca's infertility and her husband dying were 'her story" (i.e what her book was about) and so it was all covered in this series?

Is there something else that happens in her book that means there will be an upcoming series that will be solely focused on Francesca?

(I really hope so as I think the actress who plays Francesca is amazing!)

sonjadog · 27/02/2026 17:33

Francesca's story has only just begun. There is much, much more to come...

Well this sounds exciting!!!!!!!!!!

I might have to buy the book as I'm incredibly impatient 😂

(or you could just PM me to tell me what's going to happen) 😂

Yes I think Eloise will be next. The actress is 36 and playing a character much younger so they need to get on with it. Unless she and Francesca share a season, which I can see happening as Fran’s story will not end the same way as the book. She won’t have a wedding or be able to have a relationship ‘out’ with society.

Speaking of Michaela, are we to assume John knew she was not interested in men (but in women)? As he was very protective when Francesca tried to set her up.

Mum2838 · 27/02/2026 17:59

I’m actually just wondering how they are going to fill out Francesca’s story over 8 episodes - I don’t actually remember many plot points after John.

Having said that I thought the writers did a good job with Benedict and Sophie’s story, adding extra scenes and trimming others from the books.

Yes I think John knew, the way he shut Francesca down completely about introducing Michaela to new suitors.

I think it will be like this season where Francesca's story continues and runs in parallel with Eloise.

It’s mainly Michael lusting after her while wrestling with feelings of guilt about John. Francesca wanting a baby and wanting to remarry just to have one. Plus lots of very hot sex.

I think Francesca’s story stands out as it’s not another story of the blushing virgin taming the reformed rake after he’s shagged about/ had his fun. We have had that story 4 times now. Probably typical of the time period but it gets old.

It would be interesting if Eloise has a secret lover before Phillip. Or if Gregory takes a different path to his riddled brothers and saves himself for marriage. As I said, the virgin taming the rake is boring now.

OMG I would have totally missed that scene!

Ive just gone back and had to fast forward the whole thing, cheeky!!

So happy it ended like that. I still think they need to get Simon & Daphne back in for some scenes they are missed.

Kirschcherries · 27/02/2026 18:40

I loved the embroidery on Anthony and Benedict’s waistcoats and cravats in the mid- credits segment.

I usually focus on the dresses.

teambrief · 27/02/2026 18:42

I hope Sophie kept her friends on as staff in the books if they’re mentioned at all.

I wondered about this. Will she be able to have Alfie and Hazel round for tea??

I was admiring Sophie’s dressing gown in the conservatory - I thought it was beautiful but a bit odd given how plain her clothes are.

Mum2838 · 27/02/2026 19:47

Oh and yes I lived the embroidery on the cravats too! So perfect for a country wedding!

I was wondering if they would do this too. Especially as so much of Fran’s story is set in Scotland. I think it would be nice to have parallel stories again - save us poor fans having to wait years and years.

BruceAndNosh · 27/02/2026 20:09

Sophie's servant bedroom was far too lovely. Large, wallpaper, roaring fire and loads of candles.
