I couldn’t see a thread so thought I would start one.

The first 4 episodes drop on Netflix tomorrow (29th Jan). We will then need to wait until 26th February for the other 4.

We all know it’s not a realistic period drama but it’s great escapism and I’m looking forward to binging the first 4 eps.

Well Season 5 presumably won’t be out for at least 18 months, so by the time we get there I expect it will feel more like enough time has passed after John’s death. Plus they may well do a time jump.

I quite like how they’re taking Eloise into proper long-term spinster territory before doing the curve round into romance. To me that’s more interesting than if they all just toddle off promptly to the altar. I’m sure she’ll have plenty of screen time next season and they’ll start setting her story up. Claudia Jessie must be happy given she’s said she wants to stay as long as possible!

So it’s been confirmed: season 5 will be Francesca’s story.

I am disappointed. I think they needed to leave a bit of time after John’s death before her story, and also her story has featured heavily over the last 2 seasons. Season 5 should have been Eloise with Fran absent or just in the background.

Agreed and also I really don't like the change they've made with michaela/michael. It feels like playing to a particular audience/indulging what the showrunners pet interests are. I probably won't bother watching it, I found francesca boring as it was.

SuzyFandango · 24/03/2026 18:23

I reeeeeally wanted eloises story. CJ is a much better actress and is they've just got her treading water for years while they kill the show with francesca

I love them all and agree that Eloise’s story needs more setting up, so it does make sense. I’m sure they’ll time jump it.

I might have to go back and reread the books again in preparation.

Is it definitely being released in 2027? Why do they need so long!

Remind me who sir Philip is?

Remind me who sir Philip is?

The brother of George, who got Marina pregnant then inconveniently died. He married her so she would be looked after.

NCTDN · 25/03/2026 21:20

Thanks. Thought there was a stronger connection to Eloise- why would she be writing to him?

FiloPasty · 25/03/2026 21:35

She writes to offer her condolences as she knew Marina.

In the books isn’t Marina a distant cousin of the Bridgertons? But in the show she is related to the Featheringtons.

Untailored · 26/03/2026 09:46

Eloise barely knows Marina in the show - do they even have a scene together? It was Daphne who tried to help her by writing to the general.

Philip will have to come back, perhaps to tell the Featheringtons about Marina and then meet Eloise and go from there. Hard to see how it can be done by letters.

It will be interesting to see how they work the changes in.

I think on the whole though the books are pretty basic & "samey".
