Can’t see a thread. Anyone watching?

OP posts:
Justfivemoreminutesplease · 31/01/2026 13:01

I’ve just heard a trailer on the radio and it said that “all” episodes were on IPlayer and got excited.
However it’s still just the first 4 it seems ☹️

buffyajp · 31/01/2026 12:28

That’s your issue. It is NOT a spoiler when it aired four years ago. Get a grip for heavens sake and just stay of traitors threads if you can’t handle hearing results from FOUR years ago.

Why are you being so difficult and unreasonable? those of us watching traitors Ireland are telling you that your comments are spoiling other series for us as we work our way through them yet you insist on telling us otherwise

if it were me I’d say “whoops sorry” and not do it again

FuzzyPuffling · 31/01/2026 13:58

I'm not enjoying it as much as the UK version. There's too much swearing and they all seem quite snarky with each other and unsupportive. Eamon is horrible. And the humour of Claudia is sadly missed.

QueenOfThorns · 31/01/2026 14:25

I’m loving it so far. I agree that Eamonn seems particularly unpleasant. I don’t mind the swearing, but I’m fascinated by how obsessed they all are with tea!

What has also struck me is the very high level of Main Character Syndrome apparent in this cast. Everyone seems convinced that every act by the Traitors is in direct response to something they personally have done!

We also watch with subtitles on, but DH isn’t a native English speaker, so we do this a lot of the time anyway. I’m also finding it helpful, to be honest, but I do with quite a lot of US accents too!

Yes I noticed this, it’s common for them to think it’s about them, which I find interesting.

they do seem very lone wolf and not team players, they aren’t looking to support each other, even the traitors aren’t pretending to.

chisanunian · 31/01/2026 15:36

I was interested to notice that the conversation at the round table appeared to revolve largely around who said what to whom, when they said it, who overheard it, who went and told tales about what they'd heard someone else say, whether or not it was true or entirely fabricated, and a lot of "oh yes you did / oh no I didn't" about what was or wasn't said. Strewth. I can't remember the word-for-word details about a conversation I had half an hour ago.😁

Tell you what though - never mind the Traitors, I wouldn't trust any of the Faithfuls any further than I could throw a chest of bits of wood painted gold gold bars.

I can’t believe some posters need to use subtitles when watching this programme, have these people never met someone from outside their home town?

Bit rude! Life's just easier with subtitles.

Allswellthatendswelll · 31/01/2026 22:26

I love it! Love how they often all have a joke and seem more warm to each other than the UK version. Love the traitor chaos.
Love Sister Michael and the Irish folklore elements.

It is a bit more low budget than the UK one and the missions really show this!

Can't speak for other viewers, but I have tinnitus and sometimes find it quite difficult to hear what people are saying on the television, especially if several are talking at once and they are yacking away at nineteen to the dozen.

Piapea · 31/01/2026 23:30

I have been looking forward to watching this since it came out and have managed to avoid all spoilers, so let's not ruin that now!!
I think Siobhan McSweeney is a great choice for presenter. Of course she is not Claudia, who is a singular force of pure personality. She has some presenting skills behind her with the pottery show and she is an actor so is bringing some of that with her as well.

I have watched all traitors available on iPlayer and Alan Cummings is truly the worst presenter. He is an actor, not a presenter and is playing a role. He come across rehearsed, without any warmth at all and even his accent sounds fake!
I really like the NZ guy and the Australian guy was fine.

My main take away from the Irish one so far is how much lower the editing budget is. The UK one is a masterclass in editing. Being 4 years in, it's very streamlined and it's telling a story from the very beginning. The Irish one is just finding it's feet.

Melancholyflower · 01/02/2026 00:02

With regard to swearing, BBC moved the Traitors to 8pm this season, so they can't have swearing in it as pre-watershed. I was a bit annoyed at it being shown earlier, because I think a lot of them would swear and it would need to be edited out, changing the way they come across. However on here lots of people seemed happy it was on earlier, because they watch with kids or go to bed earlier, but I'd prefer it not to have to be child-friendly.

AmazingGraced · 01/02/2026 04:43

The discussions at the round table go on for far too long . Much much longer than the UK version. It’s boring.

I think some people are taking the subtitles personally or maybe being offended on behalf of others. I have subtitles on for nearly everything nowadays but I do find some accents harder than others, especially if they speak very quickly as some of the players do.

FuzzyPuffling · 02/02/2026 13:30

I notice that the men talk a lot more than the women at the RT.

Fruitpastelsyum · 02/02/2026 13:53

Yes and the women flock round!

NorWouldTilly · 02/02/2026 13:59

Yay - it’s Monday!

Two more episode are up.

FuzzyPuffling · 02/02/2026 14:00

There's a lot of unpleasantness and aggression going on. It's making me feel very uncomfortable.

Don't be so daft!
There are loads of people that have struggled to understand my accent as im not from the county that i was brought up in. I speak faster and use different turns of phrase than the 'locals' even though I've been here for 40 years!
I struggled to understand some of my distant relatives from Ireland when we met up at weddings and funerals.
No one is offended, its just the way it is.

ChoccyJules · 02/02/2026 17:13

Ooh that was an explosive couple of episodes! I can’t believe I have to wait another week now 🙁 They seem to have a knack for sensing traitors in this one.

Quite - Irish accents articulate words much faster

I don’t know either why people are so offended

ChoccyJules · 02/02/2026 17:14

By which I mean, so many faithfuls mention possible traitors in their chats and they’re actually right!

NorWouldTilly · 02/02/2026 17:18

It is becoming incredibly noisy and combative. Watched Ep 5 earlier and need a rest before Ep 6. (I’m also afraid in case the one person with actual insight into what’s going on is murdered this week.)

I'm another one finding the offense taken very odd. Irish (the whole variety) has always been pretty much my favourite accent in the world, and I thought it was widely acknowledged to be up there with one of the most attractive accents. (Unless that's just me?!).

I've also thought I might put subtitles on because I sometimes struggle to hear everything. I can't see how that's offensive. Just how it is!

IAmKerplunk · 02/02/2026 19:15

Ep 5 was explosive! Just starting ep 6. I’m really enjoying this series - loved the Australian version too but haven’t got on with the US version.

I have subtitles on for everything these days - I don’t have a hearing problem but some programs there is a lot of mumbling so now I am just used to having them on for everything. Richard Osman said on his podcast that there is an such an increasing number of people using subtitles that films/programs now rarely have anything of interest at the bottom of the screen as a deliberate choice because it will get covered by subtitles which I thought was interesting.
