Welcome to Thread 7 of Traitors 2026.

This thread runs at TV pace so do not read any further if you are not up to date with the live broadcast. Whilst most discussion will be on the current series, inevitably people will refer to previous series/players/winners so reader beware if you’ve not seen the 3 previous editions, or the celebrity version.

While we welcome posters discussing their theories and speculating on relationships/connections between players, please don’t post spoilers from elsewhere that may ruin things for those of us who like to see things unfold over the course of the series.

The story so far (as at end of Ep 6):

Traitors
Hugo
Rachel
Stephen
Fiona (Secret Traitor)

Murdered
Netty
Ben
Maz
Reece

Banished
Judy (Faithful)
Hugo (Traitor)
Ross (Faithful)
Amanda (Faithful)
Fiona (Traitor)

This thread is starting mid-way through Episode 7, so goodness only knows what is going to happen in the Round Table Showdown that is brewing.

The floor is yours…

Harriet reminds me of the barristers and law reporters I worked with at the Royal Courts of Justice in the early 1990s - very privileged, used to calling the shots, confident that they would always be in charge. I think perhaps the reason she lost it is that she just became profoundly distressed by not being in control of what was going on around her. It's frustrating and irritating for everyone, but more so for someone like her... she desperately needed to regain her sense of superiority over the plebs. (That sarcastic hand clap...!)

I really expected her evidence against Rachel to be more solid. Rachel was quite right when she said it was weak, and just sounded like the hunches everyone gets. Tonight's round table probably strengthened Rachel's position considerably.

What made it even more disappointing was Harriet's insistence that she absolutely KNEW who the "other two Traitors" were, apart from Rachel. How could she be so dogmatic about this? I'm not sure she was clever in sussing Rachel out after all... it looks more like just a case of "even a stopped clock tells the right time twice a day."

That kind of blind self-belief is a bit scary in a person, and probably attracts them to certain lines of work (e.g. Amanda!) where they wield enormous power.

After Harriet's performance on Uncloaked, I can say that both her and Fiona strike me as intelligent women, who think no one is smarter than them. When they realised there was someone who outsmarted them, another woman to boot, they could not bear it, and took it very personally.

Their behaviour has made me totally team Rachel. And I wasn't to begin with.

I agree about Harriet and Fiona. It would be fun to see Rachel and Stephen win but i don't think it's very likely at the moment. I don't really mind who wins now the toxic two are out.

Having said that I suppose I need to bear in mind how pressure cooker the game is and give them some grace, or Harriet at least.

Sparklesandspandexgallore · 14/01/2026 21:46

Yes ageism and sexism is definitely playing out here.
An older woman who speaks her mind, how very dare she.
I wanted Harriet to win with Jessie. I like James too and even Sam is beginning to appeal more to me.
Fair play to Rachel if she wins. I don’t think Stephen is very good at all, he has ridden on Rachel’s coat tails. This episode is the only one in which he has genuinely contributed anything.
I too agree that this series is feeling more like torture for some of the players who seem to be pushed to their tolerance limits.

I genuinely think I would have wanted out of this series if I had been in the castle. No-one is listening to people’s suspicions and a scatter-gun approach prevails. All middle-aged people have been murdered or banished. Recent episodes have left me with a very unpleasant taste in my mouth - it feels much more toxic at this stage than previous series.

Jessie would be the only one to put two and two together now if she survives.

I think this series has players who are much more focused on game playing than last year, where they all seemed to be more focused on being friends. This year has been a lot more dramatic, I think tomorrow is going to be a bit of a damp squib of an episode as they’ll all be exhausted!!

I think Harriet had just had enough of the mental game-playing and was ready to go home. I noticed she never hung around in the evenings, presumably because everyone was drinking and she wanted to avoid that. She missed the Fiona outburst at Rachel and had to be filled in the next day.

So, by the last round table, it was either fight to prove she was right about Rachel or kamikaze her way to the exit. I think she chose right, especially as the rest of them are so bloody dim that they turned their attention straight to Roxy and Matt, even though both Harriet and Fiona have outed Rachel!

They’re only allowed 1/2 drinks a day.

LighthouseLED · 14/01/2026 21:46

While I understand why she’d want to avoid that, you can’t really slope off early in what is a social game (not a logic game) and expect to win.

WriterOfWrongs · 14/01/2026 21:47

I would not be surprised if Harriet and her agent and one of the producers planned out in advance an optimum amount of time for her to stay in the show, and how she should try and go out.

I said on the last thread that I don't think the order of who went in front of the mirrors and 'won' the chance to speak to the Traitors was random. I firmly believe the producers engineered it so Harriet could be one. They would know from their private chats with her what her theories were.

placemats · 14/01/2026 21:47

When Harriet named four and possibly 5 Traitors I thought how dim are you?

Her speech at the breakfast was bizarre - no wonder everyone wanted a shield and voted her out.

Beachtastic · 14/01/2026 21:48

WriterofWrongs · 14/01/2026 20:50

Harriet wants to go. She’s achieved her goals of selling herself as a writer and having her moment.

She absolutely doesn’t need the money.

I think she just wanted to go home where she feels comfortable and secure.

I think the real Harriet has gone through stuff, not necessarily untroubled & stable, unfortunately.

I think she got blindsided by how many people started defending Rachel, and assumed they were rallying as her fellow traitors.

When you're a recovering alcoholic like she is, even 1 to 2 drinks is too many.

For me it isn't older women speaking their minds but how they are speaking that i find off putting. As someone who is between them in age I know it is possible to speak up assertively without being rude or losing my temper.

Absolutely agree! If I were quite intelligent, I think I’d eventually get really frustrated at being trapped in a castle with a whole load of people who are either dim, shallow or citing FBI training. I don’t blame Harriet for wanting to get on with writing her book to be honest; I would have lost my patience too.

MrsLeonFarrell · 14/01/2026 20:54

So is Harriet assuming that if she goes out they will all thank her and assume they will then believe her? Ego city.

Or did she just get bored and not need the money?

No, she wants a win for the Faithfuls. At cost to herself because as we know, she doesn't need them money. To me that shows that she just loves the show and really wanted to be on it.

Roxy is so unlikeable.
I really hope she is next to be banished.

💯
She pretty much said she’d had enough of being taken for a fool.

Reckon that she couldn’t bear to cosy up to Rachel much longer to avoid being murdered and she would have been offed before the end.

She’s given the faithfuls a gift but they’ll probably throw it away.

She wanted the Faithfuls to win, not herself individually. She was going to donate any winnings she got to a breast cancer charity in memory of her best friend who died a couple of years ago.

Hmm no I think she wanted to exit the game in a blaze of glory/attention.

I'm not sure they send them straight home, especially when it's that close to the end.

I don’t think you can plan those things in the way you think you can, and the optimum publicity would have been for her to win.

I suspect she wound herself up in what she was going to say both to the traitors and then at breakfast and then spent a very uncomfortable day with people avoiding her, so decided she’d had enough, and didn’t want to stay any longer.

One of the comments made by several of the celebs was how stressful they found it to be “locked up” with a group of people and lie to them/work out who was lying to them pretty much 24*7. Considering they are probably better equipped that most contestants to deal with the artificiality of the situation I took that as an indicator of how very stressful it is. I can see why anyone who feels they are not getting anywhere at this stage might just stop trying.

Did you read the Erin Kelly piece in the Guardian today? She said producers sent an invite round to loads of crime writers to audition and Harriet was one of many who put themselves forward and she got picked. So she was 100% willing to go on the show – she was a massive fan beforehand.
