i have to say that I am a pleased to be a fully grown adult who can navigate a love for the books and TV series sensibly because goodness me….the amount of toxicity in the fandom around the TV series is astonishing.

@TheMateofOphelia i read Role Model already. Didn’t really read in order. Read them all now and will probably re read HR because it’s my favourite. RR writes her MCs in such a way that makes you fall in love with them.

After Shane and Ilya, Troy and Harris are my favourites though.

I have rediscovered my love of reading again which is great.

Ah, I didn't read them in order initially but am doing so for the re-read. I've got an insanely busy week at work coming up so I'm saving The Long Game for next weekend.

I am definitely doing a re read (Reid) in order at some point. I have a holiday in a couple of weeks so plan on taking my kindle and starting them all again.

So in line with my previous comment on toxic fandoms I don't really know what's going on but I have seen Rachel Reid's hilarious video on insta where she apologies to Shane for calling him a stupid idiot. Shane can't wait to get off the phone apparently 😆😆

i think she probably take a leaf out of Connor’s book and disengage. It just fuels the fire. RR has been attacked left right and centre over her portrayal of Shane. Bizarre entitled fan behaviour. They think Shane and Hudson are the same person and that she hates the character, doesn’t portray his autism correctly and is also racist. One of his managers commented on threads and was also attacked. He has some unhinged fans. At this point Hudson himself is probably the only person to shut this crazy discourse down.

Interesting to see Connor pop up on SNL last night to introduce Olivia Rodrigo. I fan cast Louis Partridge as Troy during my re-read.

could someone tell me what exactly she is meant to have said about Shane?? All I’ve seen online is that she really likes him and considers him the hero.

Just finished Fellow Travellers and I must say I thought it went downhill at the end. The beginning was brilliant, but it got very predictable and cliche in the later episodes. Also, Hawk's personality change from the confident devious calculating politician to some soppy idiot was unpleasant. I was rooting for Lucy the whole time 🤷‍♀️

an oldish discussion where she referred to Shane as an idiot. People have taken offence. A section of the fandom believes she is unsympathetic to autism and not nuanced enough about his race.

I think she was just chirping him in a good-natured way, like one would between good friends. This is a character who she has known for a long time.

I have no time really for that over the top spectacle, especially as Jeff Bezos has his hand in it. However I will make an exception for those 2.

I hope they can get some downtime soon, though they have lots of filming to do. This brand building path they are on is relentless and probably overwhelming.
