Granchester - new series starts tonight - 7 January 2026

I see that this time last year I started a similar thread thinking it was no longer being made.

I think this is the penultimate series.

Have no idea if I watched this time last year, and have no memory of yet another new vicar.

I like it. I'm a bit surprised it doesn't get more love on MN.

I thought it was the final series? It's on again tonight. A lot more comedy in last night's.

I think originally it was a much better show and balanced lighter moments with some well informed issues relevant to the time period.

Whoever the writers are now, are just making it silly, light hearted soft focus nonsense.

Apparently the UK audience is now really bad, but there will be one more series after this.

That is because there is a far bigger international audience who accepted this sort of cliched "English" way of life fabrication.

Must be really sad for the performers, when you think of the lines that Mrs Maguire and Cathy Keating used to have, and now they are given really one dimensional sillyness.

I dread to think how they will portray Leonard's story line.

It's in its dog days, no doubt about it.
