Tony, from Eastenders, who abused Whitney, for me.

He is Kev in Emmerdale now. No idea if he is a neerdowell there as well, but I cant see past my hatred for him for Whitney 🤷‍♀️

See also: Carlton Banks from The Fresh Prince - he will forever be associated with the Tom Jones dance.

To me Kevin Whateley will always be Neville from Auf Wiedersehen Pet and from the same show Timothy Spall will always be Barry.

To me Kevin Whateley will always be the headteacher in the film Trip Trap where he was abusive to his wife. I was youngish when I saw it and hadn’t seen any other films depicting DV, unlike today where everything is hard hitting and it really affected me. I can’t watch him in anything else even now.

Bryan Cranston

I have just seen Bryan Cranston in "All My Sons" in the West End and he was fantastic. I have never seen him in anything else before. He has a very distinguished stage career, when you read his resume.

Dominic West playing Fred West. I still love him in The Wire but I can't watch him in anything new, he just reminds me of Fred West and creeps me out! I don't think he's suffered from it though, he seems to do very well.

Dominic West is also a successful stage actor, and has also done loads of things on screen.... off the top of my head, Prince Charles in The Crown, Richard Burton in a drama-doc, was in The Hour, probably loads more that I've missed.

All Jennifer Coolidges roles are very type-casted.

But that's a massive shame because anyone who has met her in person will tell you she is sharp as a tack, so witty and funny in her own right, and can be an extremely serious and business minded person, who doesn't accept being objectified.

She's the complete opposite of her roles, and she's an amazing actress.

I love her! She is amazing.
I especially enjoyed her cameo in Friends 🤣

I guess all the HP lot even tho they are awful actors

Daniel Radcliffe and Rupert Grint have both had pretty successful careers post HP. I don't think acting is for Emma Watson, though.

He'll always be Walter, the Homeless guy from Diagnosis Murder, to me, and not the more famous Walter he later played.

LadyKenya · 27/11/2025 12:27

Yootha Joyce, as MIldred.

MooBaggage · 27/11/2025 12:39

I am permanently terrified of Jason Watkins, after the character he played in the series Being Human. I can never believe he's anything other than completely evil, even when he's playing lovely people! 😄

mumofoneAloneandwell · 27/11/2025 12:51

I will always remember Dominic West playing fred West, such a good portrayal

But for me, he is the shite husband in The Wire and then in The Affair - which i think isnt too much of an act 😄😄

I saw Sonia from eastenders in a play maybe 15 years or so ago (Perry Fenwick was in the tiny audience) and she was great, I really thought she was going to break out of being Sonia and become a solid stage actress. But nope.

The actor who played Silas in Hollyoaks. Whenever I see him, he becomes that sly murderer again.

And him as silas dragged on for far too long

So whenever I see him, i just feel irritated at the years i sat through him on hollyoaks

James Norton in Happy Valley!

Irl he is very thin and posh and crosses his legs

Wish he'd be a bit more like his character so I can carry on fancying him

Sick Note, with Nick Frost. He did quite a lot of swearing in that! He's done some films and TV series, there's a list on Wiki.

John Nettles is an interesting one because I guess it shows your age if you remember him best for Bergerac or Barnaby!

Alex Jennings is a wonderful actor but for me is always an utter murdering, raping psychopath in Unforgotten. I saw The Lady in the Van recently but couldn't accept him as Alan Bennett, even though he gave a phenomenal performance.

James Fleet and the late Emma Chambers will always be Alice and Hugo from Dibley. And Joanna Page will never not be Stacey. I read recently that she's had to stop acting because of the strong link to G&S and wants to retrain as a sex therapist instead!

😭😭😭 I would love to be a fly on the wall in one of her sex therapy sessions - she really is stacey tbh, judging by her recent interviews bless her - i like her though

Sick note thats it - I liked season one

Gonna have to do a Google of the three of them tbh, as I dont know anything else theyve done

I know that Daniel was in one of Ricky gervais films or something

They must be so rich its not even worth the hassle working 😭

Same with danerys from GOT - not sure shes that great an actor judging by her film with sam clafin 😳

Paul Kaye (psychiatrist) will forever make my skin crawl after After Life

I was once with a group of ladies of different ages who were discussing who was 'their' Robin Hood. One of two were old enough to say Errol Flynn. (It's Richard Greene, of course.)

Of course it’s Errol Flynn. I’m nearly 65; people of my generation watched a lot of ‘classic’ black and white films on Sunday afternoons when there was nothing else to do.
well… him or the fox in the Disney version. Grin

Summeriscumin · 27/11/2025 13:20

Jeremy Brett was the best Sherlock Holmes ever but playing it so well had a dire effect on his already fragile mental health.

OneMoreProfiterole · 27/11/2025 13:25

Iwan Rheon. I’ve seen him in interviews and he’s lovely but I can’t get past what he did to Alfie Allen in GOT as Ramsey Bolton… evil.

😭😭😭 Ross Kemp will always make me laugh

Terrible terrible actor but definitely goes around the world being 'hard'

I remember when Suzanna from GMB tried to ask him his opinion on Harry and Meghan (i think that Harry is a patron of one of his war charities) and Ross pretty much told her to get fucked

I like Ross, but I agree he's not a convincing actor. On Bridge of Lies, you can always see when the contestant is going out, long before the womp-womp music begins, just by looking at his face! I always thing he's a dead ringer for Mr Happy from the Mister Men Grin

Shaun Williamson has a number of strings to his bow, and had been on TV in various capacities, but even he laughs about the fact that everybody knows him as 'Barry from Eastenders'.

I know Pauline McLynn has really tried to distance herself from the role of Mrs Doyle, to avoid being typecast, but I can never see her in anything else without instantly hearing her say "Go on, go on, go on, go on... perhaps I like the misery!"

😄😄 I like him too, terrible acting be damned

Something likeable about him, dunno what it is - his face is very very round though, a la mr happy

Agree re Barry from eastenders, hes done well with it tbh, managing to hold his own on panel shows

Lovejoy and Jim from Neighbours.

Both have been in other things but always get called the above. (At least in this house they do!!)

I saw Jim from Neighbours quite recently in some tv show set on a yacht when I saw him I thought oh it’s Jim from Neighbours. I have no idea what his real name is

godmum56 · 27/11/2025 13:31

I was thinking "how silly" until I remembered Jason Watkins in "Being Human" He redeemed himself in Macdonald and Dodds.
